Asked if she herself planned to join politics, Priyanka did not say a direct ‘no’. “I have realised that in politics one should never say no,” she said, and then added: “But I do not see this happening.”
When asked whether she thought Rahul was qualified enough to become the Prime Minister, she told reporters: “I have full faith in my brother. He is hardworking. He means well. He is, according to me, qualified... So, one day he will. He will do a good job of it.”
And then she added: “But, as of now, Manmohan Singh is the PM and will be the PM when the Congress again comes to power after the Lok Sabha elections.”
Priyanka was talking to reporters after addressing a public meeting in Ayodhyanagar area of Rahul’s constituency Amethi. She is camping in Amethi so that Rahul is free to campaign elsewhere in the country.
Her remarks came even as the BJP continued to attack Singh, with BJP general secretary Arun Jaitley saying in Chandigarh that the country was facing a difficult time on economic and internal security fronts because “India lacks a strong leadership”.
“At the time of polls, the Prime Minister is trying to project a new image. But that cannot change a weak Prime Minister into a strong leader. Track record of his past five years is proof that he has been weak and helpless,” Jaitley said, addressing party workers.
Asked to comment on the BJP’s criticism, Priyanka said: “Manmohan Singh is a very qualified Prime Minister. The country has seen his ability. He remains firm. I don’t think he is weak at all.”
During the day, Priyanka addressed several small, wayside public meetings in the constituency. She requested people to vote for Rahul to ensure that he could win by a greater margin than their mother Sonia Gandhi, who is contesting from nearby Rae Bareli.
Reacting to Priyanka’s statement on joining politics, Congress spokesman Abhishek Shinghvi said in Delhi that she was “already a part of the larger Congress family”. “People connect with her thought process and identify with her and the charisma is for everyone to see. Whether she will hold this post or that post, I think it is completely premature to say in the light of what she has just said,” Singhvi said.

I am not able to understand the basis of Priyanka Gandhi's statement.
The dead heroes of independance must be happy that they forught for independance from British so that a nehru clan clan can rule India forever whether the infant is capable or not.

Sirs, This election is creating history by bringing more and more irrelevent issues and debates.we have seen first 30 days grouping and regrouping among the parties with the aim of winning seats.They have also talked about re alignment after elections to capture power.Now we are seeing only bitter clamour of two eager tongues from two different generations.We are however waiting for any real political issues which may not surface at all.Recently Sri.Modi commented that congress is 125 years old grandma.Sow.Priyanka retorted by claiming that she,her brother and even her mother are young and the congress is not old. She carefully avoided bringing in the name of Pranab, Manamohan singh and other elders within the congress group.In another interview she said Rahul is having all the qualities to become PM in future.She also wanted rahul to get married so that she would be relieved of the responsibilities to look after him. These observations would come only from a grandma about her grandson.While Priyanka puts a young face in political life,she could not avoid projecting an old figure in the family life. how ignorant these two are is evident. These two think india is their grand fathers property.By uttering such comments it showed that their is congress leader worth while to be the PM of india.It is time people show the door to these self styled aspirants.By this comment priyanka has vartually indicated that all these so called congress netas are chowkidars.Eating in the hut and briyani in hotels doesnt mean any thing as crorers living in this country like that.Dr. rajshekar reddy has done good job in andhra pradesh , he is the right candidate to be PM of india, he has dynamism, planning and young enough to lead the country.Let these do some thing useful and dont think that PM,s gaddi is legacy of Neharu family.
There should be a referendum on this issue.I am sure a good majority would vote him out.Nehru-Gandhi family cannot decide this issue as if it is their family business.
Yes Rahul nehru gandhi can be PM,Priyanka Gandhi Vadera can be a minister,Sonia maino Gandhi can also be a minister.Robert vadera gandhi can also a minister and if constitution is amended to remove age restiction all the Gandhi-Vadera kids and if Rahul marries his colombian sweet heart sweet heart she can be aminister and all children born to them,the Nehru-Gandhi kids can also be ministers.Whenever congress is able to form govt.in centre only Gandhi-Nehru-Vadera family has the sole propritory claim to PM and and other ministerial berths in the central cabinet!!!!!.Oh!What an idea(L) democracy.
Enough is enough. The country should say NO to Rahul and also NO to Manmohan Singh. Other the country has no future.
A sister having faith in her brother and thinking of him as best qualified to be India's PM is understandable. My sister thinks of me that way too. All sisters do. The difference is that I donot belong to the dynasty and that is the only qualification that matters. There is no dearth of talented and capable people in the country but they do not have Nehru-Gandhi pedigree. If Sonia were not Rajiv's widow, and Rajiv not Indira's son, and Indira not Nehru's daughter, none of them would have become what they did become. Had Sonia still lived in Italy she could not even have become a member of local municipality. So in India either you belong to the FAMILY or be its sycophant.
There are plenty of donkey like him in India who run the business what their father or grandparents did. But in Politics well in Indian Politics we can see that our present PM is a donkey who is control by a foreigner and now she wants to push her son to be the PM. Rahul when you wake up in the morning see your face in the mirror and asked yourself whether you are fit to be the PM. When you speak or try to convinced poeple when you go to beg votes. Don't you feel ashamed of yourself for what you do.
Please, can Supreme court send this family in to EXILE for life. So Indians can actually exercise freedom (that the poor Nehru fought for). They are harming the democracy of the country and also the legacy of Nehru. On the one hand you have this nonsense purported by Priyanka, PM's offer of minister post for rahul baba and maa ka prem. Compare this with what advani said when asked about modi being his protege. He clearly declined that and said leader comes through popular support and not anointed. And for god sake congress and media should stop acting like it is new found party doing service for the people. This party has ruled the country for over last 40 years and is accountable for all the money that has gone down the drain in the name of development. Instead, they are preaching people about virtue of inclusive economic growth!
Finally the Truth is out. I dont understand what the gems like jyotiraditya, milind deora, naveen Jindal etc are doing in Congress. I supoose they dont ve a bit of self respect like all Congress men. The grand OLD party of India has become a BLOT on Great Indian Democracy. and the worst is that We indians ve still not come out off their slave mindset. more than 500 years of rule by mughals and britsh has instilled slavery so deep rooted in our lives that most of the indians have become blind to the evil designs of Nehru Gandhi Dynasty which cant even think of any one becoming stronger than a Gandhi scion. What they have always done is either kill or kick out any strong contender of Congress Leadership. For example Lal Bahadur Shashtri was killed in tashkent, pawar, madhav rao scindia was kicked out... u can sight so many exaples like that. This is time that indians understand that in democracy there is no place for the dynastic party like Congress and vote them out to Italy.
This is not surprising coming from the member of the ruling family of independent India. No wonder Congress party wanted Varun Gandhi who may be a competitor to Rahul Gandhi in the opposition camp put away!!!
If Priyanka thinks that having the hairstyle like Indira Gandhi is qualification, times have changed. If Mr Rahul Gandhi thinks that night out in Amethi coupled with his father Rajiv Gandhi like talking points would make him qualified for PM job, think again. These boys do not know India, Indian heritage, Indian history in its entity. They are out shouting to secure seats due to grand father previllege. If they were aam aadmi congress workers, they would not even get a ticket for having official one crore assets. (not counting the swiss accounts). Corruption does not end by talking in front of people who have no idea what is their future! Per capita does not increase by speech making or by cooked up numbers. The divisive politics of SC/ST/OBC muslims are not secular. No action against pakistan for blasts after blasts is not a qualification to ask for vote!! However, we would request you not to do the emotional blackmail of the admirers of Gandhi family. There are plenty of intelligent young men in India and Rahul's only qualification so far has been his good breeding,good looks, innocence and sincerity. He has to go through paces.He has to go a long way. He is no match to even Omar Abduallah. Don't insult the intelligence of average Indian.
Rahul Gandhi has admirable qualities of being soft spoken, immaculate public conduct and quiet business attitude. Having been in the Parliament for about 5 years he has yet display the spark required of a person to lead a country of 1.2 billion population.Even in the Congress Party many like Jyotriditya Scindia, Sachin Pilot are shoulders above him.It's a democracy so why only Rahul as future PM?Why not those like him with similar or better intellectual credentials be also in the race. Rahul the gentleman that he is would certainly welcome this idea.
so, what makes Priyanka an expert on deciding the correct qualification for being an Indian PM? Can she even manage her personal life and home before commenting on national issues? Only last week her father-in-law committed suicide (?)by hanging himself- ill and lonely in a dingy guest house in New Delhi.
What nonsence these medias, whose on the pay roll of UPA are projecting Rahul as future. Frankly speaking he dont have any qualities to be a word member. Will Priyanka elaborate the qulities needed for becoming a PM and vis-a-vis how Rahul meets the requirements for the benefit of young Indians aspiring for the post?
