Mumbai, August 26: The Mumbai Crime Branch on Tuesday arrested Bollywood actress Priyanka Chopra's former secretary Prakash Jaju from Madhya Pradesh for allegedly sending threatening and obscene messages to the actress.

"Jaju has been on the run since two years and was arrested today from the city of Mau in Madhya Pradesh. He has been accused of threatening Chopra of dire consequences if he is not given his job back," Additional Commissioner of Police (Crime) Deven Bharti said.

Jaju had allegedly sent threatening, obscene and abusive text messages to Chopra after she fired him for his financial irregularities.

Jaju had been working as Chopra's secretary from June 2002 to July 2004. However, Chopra noticed that Jaju was trying to get ‘close’ with her and started harassing her by sending obscene and threatening SMSs demanding her to stop talking to any other man.

Chopra's former secretary had allegedly threatened to harm her professionally and personally if she does not marry him.

Besides, Jaju had also allegedly attempted to take overdraft from Chopra's bank and took about Rs 10 lakh from producer Sanjay Gupta for the film Plan and had not informed Chopra about it.

Jaju will be produced before a Mumbai court once he is brought to Mumbai from Madhya Pradesh.
