"We have registered an FIR against Shah Rukh Khan after we received an application from an advocate who alleged that the actor made some statements hurting the sentiments of Muslims," said senior police inspector of Bandra police station, Prakash George.
The complaint was registered against Shah Rukh and the publisher of the magazine in which the purported remarks were published.
Complainant Khalid Babu Querishi alleged that in the July issue of the ‘Time and Style’ magazine, Shah Rukh had used objectionable language against the Prophet which is unacceptable," George said.
The case was registered under section 295-a (deliberate and malicious acts intended to outrage religious sentiments) and 34 (acts done by several persons with common interest) of IPC.
In a message, the actor who is currently abroad shooting for Karan Johar's "My Name is Khan", said that there is no more important figure in history than Prophet Mohammad. "Being a Muslim and standing up for the tenets of Islam is my most important agenda," he said.
The actor's response came a day after a First Information Report (FIR) was registered against him.
Referring to protests on the issue, Shah Rukh said, "If they have seen my interviews about Islam and the Prophet, they should know that it is a writing error and not a thought or view I believe in."
He said, "for all practical purposes... Prophet Mohammad is the most important positive figure in Islam". Khan's statement will be recorded on his return from the US.
SRK effigy beaten with shoes
A large number of protesters put a garland of shoes round an effigy of film star, Shah Rukh Khan here to protest against his alleged "derogatory" remarks against Prophet Mohammed.
The protestors, gathered at Jehangirabad square after Friday prayers, beat up Shah Rukh's effigy with footwear to vent their anger with film star.
Later, they dispersed peacefully at the end of the protest which lasted about 30 minutes.
Shah Rukh in an interview to a magazine compared Prophet Mohammed with Adolf Hitler and Winston Churchill.

Though I dont agree with what Mr Shahrukh Khan allegedly has said about prophet( Which he has denied),I want to know , what has happened to freedom of expression.Why was no FIR was logded against MF Hussian,why every one protested when His insulting paintings were opposed and people opposing were branded as Fanatics.....Just a thought for Pseudos
Shahrukh Khan has the right to say anything - that right is given by secular constitution of INdia. The demonstrators have the right to oppose and feel hurt and burn effigies - that right is given by the secular constitution of India.Shahrukh Khan is the handful of true Muslims...who really understand the Islam religion.To the protestors : Is Islam so feeble and weak that some comments by Shahrukh Khan will cause damage to it ??To all Muslims - please be more tolerant. Practice Islam in any form in your own personal life. Do not impose your religious "rights and wrongs" on others.How are these protestors different from crazy Raj Thackeray and his gang... ?
There are so many non Islamic Secular countries like UK, Netherlands, Sweden, India, Russia, Thailand etc etc, who are facing the Islamic Extremism is more than sufficient proof to show the compatibility and tolerance of Islam at ground level.Regarding the Indian History, You should read it again from some unbiased source and for your info Muslim had never ruled all the parts of India at any point of time. I have started thankfully King Khan to be interested in Indian culture, to understand them and to love. When I have been in the very bad situation, he has given me to the life strength again. I am amazed by the views expressed by Mr. Reddy. He projects Islam as most intolerent religion. It seems Mr. Reddy lacks knowledge of history. Let me say one thing to him, if at all what he expresses is true; then Mr. Reddy himself would not have been Mr. Reddy, and he himself is the symbol of Islam's intolerence and inclusive nature. Muslims ruled the subcontinent for eight centuries, and today we proudly have 80 crores hindus in India. I think this is the biggest proof of what Islam is. Like wise, Egypt, Syria, Iraq and many more countries which are under muslim rule enjoys a 12-15% christian population among them, and they are happily living for centuries. So much hue and cry about SRK's alleged comments on Prophet Mohamed. A case is even filed. But what about the DMK and the DK which have been doing anti Hindu probaganda for the past sixty years. So many cases were filed against the big mouthed Karunanithi for casting aspersions on Hinduism and Hindu gods. He even said Lord Rama was a drunkard . All cases filed against such remarks were rejected by courts, while cases against blaspheming Islam are immediately taken up. why this partisan attitude even by courts. Is the relevant section IPC does not apply to Hindus?. Or is it because the judges are afraid of taking action against karunanithi. The judges reside in Greenways road, Chennai where the ministers also reside. Being surrounded by these persons, they are worried about their personal safety. Or is it because the judges are recommended by the politicians while being appointed. All right thinking and self respecting Hindus should think about this, if not the biased media.

Shahruhk Khan has the brains of a dinosaur. Prophet Mohammad's legacy and historic importance is commented on by scholars who use emperical and historical information. Sharukh is talking without any indepth knowledge and understanding. Only bigots and idiots do that. I guess it is one way of gaining publicity when his career is in the dump.
It is time we show restrain and stop reacting to comments which are or may be derogatory and hurting religious sentiments. All religions claim to be tolernant and claim to promote peace and harmony than why be intolerant? Good sense must prevail to ignore them and avoid reasons which can cause conflicts because they give space to exploitation or to play politics and disturbs social harmony and impedes progress. We must rise above pettiness and compete equally to avail opportunities with one's own religious values. The religion is not the ritual but a discipline to conduct life-individual and social.This needs to be transpired to our young generation who awaits a bright future; let them not be confused.
