Shah rukh khan

Bhopal The Bandra police has filed a case against Bollywood star Shah Rukh Khan for allegedly making comments about Prophet Mohammad but the actor said it is a writing error and not a thought or view that he believes in.

"We have registered an FIR against Shah Rukh Khan after we received an application from an advocate who alleged that the actor made some statements hurting the sentiments of Muslims," said senior police inspector of Bandra police station, Prakash George.

The complaint was registered against Shah Rukh and the publisher of the magazine in which the purported remarks were published.

Complainant Khalid Babu Querishi alleged that in the July issue of the ‘Time and Style’ magazine, Shah Rukh had used objectionable language against the Prophet which is unacceptable," George said.

The case was registered under section 295-a (deliberate and malicious acts intended to outrage religious sentiments) and 34 (acts done by several persons with common interest) of IPC.

In a message, the actor who is currently abroad shooting for Karan Johar's "My Name is Khan", said that there is no more important figure in history than Prophet Mohammad. "Being a Muslim and standing up for the tenets of Islam is my most important agenda," he said.

The actor's response came a day after a First Information Report (FIR) was registered against him.

Referring to protests on the issue, Shah Rukh said, "If they have seen my interviews about Islam and the Prophet, they should know that it is a writing error and not a thought or view I believe in."

He said, "for all practical purposes... Prophet Mohammad is the most important positive figure in Islam". Khan's statement will be recorded on his return from the US.

SRK effigy beaten with shoes

A large number of protesters put a garland of shoes round an effigy of film star, Shah Rukh Khan here to protest against his alleged "derogatory" remarks against Prophet Mohammed.

The protestors, gathered at Jehangirabad square after Friday prayers, beat up Shah Rukh's effigy with footwear to vent their anger with film star.

Later, they dispersed peacefully at the end of the protest which lasted about 30 minutes.

Shah Rukh in an interview to a magazine compared Prophet Mohammed with Adolf Hitler and Winston Churchill.

Islam is God monopolizing by Dharam on 20 Jun 2009

Islam is a facist religion, since it cannot tolerate freedom of speech.Like the other Abhramic faith, it is a God monopolozing religion. Rational thought processes make it evident that all theologies that seek to monopolize God are obviously false and human made and have historicaly prooven to be one of prime causes of human intolerance and suffering.

Low tolerance thresholds by B. Avi on 20 Jun 2009

How many people read what Shah Rukh actually said? Maybe he meant something else. He is a successful man with better things to do than hurt people. It is fashionable to get ''hurt'' at everything nowadays. This tendency transcends religion, of course. What a waste of time fighting over something which might not even exist. Who has seen god? Then why fight over it. The average uneducated idiot who forms the bulk of the masses gets inflamed by this new excuse to hate. Hate leads to catharsis. So is religion nothing more than an excuse to hate someone and feel good about it? Increasingly so. Goodbye days of mysticism and spirituality. Welcome to the era of gun toting zealots and blood thirsty mob religion. At the end of the day, most of the "followers" do not even know why they believe in their "faiths". What foundation does it have? If god existed, would he be really so narrow minded as to want followers to go and dictate to others how to lead their live? Wake up people!

shahrukh said nothing wrong by sanjeev on 20 Jun 2009

its a fact that the ideology of prophet mohammad is promoting violence in the world. so what wrong did SRK said

Great Communicator by Ashok on 19 Jun 2009

Shah Rukh Khan is a great communicator, and there is no way there was an error. He should be honest and apologize instead of calling it an error! Indians are not naive.

Shahrukh and the Propohet by G Krishnamurthy on 19 Jun 2009

It is likely that the Prophet would not have been as hurt about Shahrukh's purported comments as his followers. After all, the Prophet was a great man. His followers today unfortunately lack his qualities.

Ignore what Shahrukh Khan has said, even if he had said by Naim Naqvi on 19 Jun 2009

Shah Rukh Khan, being a celebrity is a soft target. It is totally unacceptable what he said, if he said against the Prophet (P.B.U.H). However, to me he is neither a religious scholar nor a saint. His words do not carry any weight. The best option is to ignore the whole issue. Why to give so much currency to what he said if, he said? Now he is denying that statement and claims that they were not his words. Let the matter close. Every time someone says something against the established thoughts or persons, a band of religious vigilante gird up their loin to fight in the name of Islam. Every one can question the authenticity of public figures and their actions. As their message is supposed to be Universal so is their profile. They weren't the property of any specific religion. Let the people analyze their lives and make comments. Use your pen and your genius to contradict the opinions inimical to your's. It would be the better service of religion than burning effigies of Notanki Walas.

Do not comment on ISlam, look into your own affairs. by NRI Engineer on 19 Jun 2009

Why you all criticize Islam??Don't you see what's happening near Tirupathi, Kashi, Puri?If you are a true Hindu, go and look by yourself and work to erdicate AIDS near famous pligrim centres. Why don't you open your mouth against SATHI?Why not you preach equality and make a Dalit as Shankaracharya?

Shah Rukh Khan by Nirode Mohanty on 19 Jun 2009

It is not a good taste to comment harshly on the Prophet Mohammed who has a billion plus followers. But Khan 's comments are true as evidenced by the past events since the inception of Islam. Khan does not have to retrack back, but he does not want a Salman Rushdie's fate.India has a lot of intolerant people.

Prophet mohammed is remarkable figure in history. by Dr.Sanam on 19 Jun 2009

There is no one comparable to Prophet Mohammed (SAS) in History. If it is like Shahrukh says, writing mistake, we should forgive him. He must understand and read about Islam and Prophet more. Buning Effigy , Pelting stone , beating up on shoe is not Islamic way.

indian islamists should learn tolerance by anupam on 19 Jun 2009

islam isalam and christianity are religions spread by force-by sword, money and gun unlike religions originating in india. go read some world history books n then make comments. intolerance is the trademark of islam and the strands of christianity practised in india. BJP IS NOT A RELIGION why make such laugable comments.

Hindu Tolerance by Gaga Gamer on 19 Jun 2009

Oh well, if this was a Hindu, berating Hindu gods (like it happens everyday), the Govt. would have even provided a bandobast against protests - and if there were any protests (which is VERY UNLIKELY), they would have been very prompt in arresting and torturing any protesters - saying they were Hindu Terrorists.True religion teaches tolerance - and in the present day, one should enjoy freedom of expression. If they dont like it, they can show their displeasure by NOT going to any Shah Rukh film.I will not be surprised if the Government "arrests" Shah Rukh for creating "religious discontent" or some such silly rule.

Islam is the second largest religion of World. It deserves some respect. by surendra on 19 Jun 2009

Despite of some of the zealots and fanatics in Islam, it deserves some respect. Like BJP, despite of being a trouble maker and a user party, deserves some respect for being the second largest party in India. There is no difference in BJP and Islam except that they represent two different religions. Deep inside most of you would agree with me but even Indian Express would hesitate to print this controversial letter.

Shah Rukh Khan by Shekhar on 19 Jun 2009

No one has got the point, Shah Rukh never compared the prophet Mohommed to a negative character. SRK is a strong, and devout muslim, and understands the tennets of the relegion better than the clerics who are defaming him, and the idiots who are burning and beating his effigies. I am NOT against public venting there frustration VIA burning effigies and beating up putlas, but it has to be for a real reason. The cleric should have simply made a call or write a letter to him, and pointed out that fact to him, and I am sure that SRK would have make a public apology. But doing it publicly in this manner, and misleading the public always incite the wrong emotions, and situation and circumstances within the community and country. I am with truth, therefore I am with SRK..let good sense prevail, and let us Indians lead that path..hindu, muslim sikhs, christians or tribals!

Shahrukh by kabir on 19 Jun 2009

He is absolutely right what he said. There is no relvance of that ........This is a out dated thesis. This though has nomeaning in present scenario.Good luck Sha Rukh

Shahrukh's effigy by manish on 19 Jun 2009

God knows who is right. The protestors or Mr. Khan? He has freedom of expression, they have freedom of religion and thus freedom to take action against people hurting their religious sentiments. Thank God! No fatwa was issued.

Free Speech by Raj on 19 Jun 2009

I guess ShahRukh Khan is eyeing for politics. He is trying to come out and show India that he is secular (like Advani did in Pak trip). May be this incident help him in reaching his hopes.

Shah rukh khan by george on 19 Jun 2009

Prophet mohd.lived 600 yearsago. He preached what was relevant to that time. If people still believe in him and his teachings then why talk anabout him and invite controversies? We try to glorify and defame people who have been long gone.

Shah Rukh's effigy beaten up with chappals by azhar on 19 Jun 2009

This reaction from the community was very much expected. Nobody can speak against the prophet even though that person who is speaking against the prophet is right. This is the golden rule.

India is a democracy and every person has the right to express its views by DR.RELIGION on 19 Jun 2009
