Ahmedabad, January 25 Members of the Standing Committee of the Vadodara Municipal Corporation (VMC) have proposed the overhaul of the civic body in the annual budget’s draft, which was presented on January 22.

In a one-on-one discussion with councilors and ward officials — a first of it’s kind — the BJP-ruled VMC committee members expressed dissatisfaction over the ‘mismanagement’ of the body’s solid waste management system under which a van travels to different spots across the city and collects garbage.

The standing committee has proposed a hike in different taxes levied by the corporation for services like water supply, drainage and property tax while presenting the draft budget. The draft has recommended allocation of Rs 804 crores for developmental projects. Speaking to the VMC staff, the members added that the water drainage system needs to be more effective.
