Lucknow, September 6 The Cyber Crime Cell of the Pune police is on the lookout for three youths from Uttar Pradesh, for posting abusive messages involving Mahatma Gandhi on Orkut, a social networking website.

The Uttar Pradesh STF is assisting its Pune counterparts in tracing the three youths — Rohit Wadhwani, Amit Arya and Ankit Sharma. So far, the Pune police have arrested 16 people from across the country in this connection and are on the hunt for more.

Last December, city vice-president of the Youth Congress, Amol Narain Bhokre, had lodged an FIR with the Deccan police in Pune, after he found objectionable messages posted on the website against Gandhi. ACP Neta Ji Shinde (Cyber Cell, Pune), who is probing the case, said: “The offender had created Gandhi’s profile and community on Orkut. Several people across the country had posted abusive messages in the community.”
