Punjab History Conference to be held from March 14-16

Patiala, March 13 The Department of Punjab Historical Studies, Punjabi University, Patiala, will organise the 40th session of the Punjab History Conference from March 14 to 16. The topic of discussion will be - ‘Studies in Punjab History: Issues and Prospects.”

Member of Parliament Sukhdev Singh Dhindsa will inaugurate the conference while Vice-Chancellor of Punjabi University Jaspal Singh will preside over it.

According to head of the department Navtej Singh, S Bhattacharya, noted historian and Chairman of the Indian Council of Historical Research, New Delhi, will be the general president of the conference.

Upinder K Singh of Delhi University, Surinder Singh of Panjab University, Mridula Mukherjee, director of Nehru Memorial Museum and Library and MS Ahluwala of Himachal Pradesh University will preside over the ancient, medieval, modern and Punjabi sections respectively.

Former Vice-Chancellor of Jawahar Lal Nehru University Harbans Mukhia will deliver Sita Ram Kohli Memorial Lecture. He will speak on the ‘Time in India’s Religions and History.’
