RIM launches BlackBerry App World in India

Mumbai Leading designer, manufacturer and marketer of innovative wireless solutions, Research In Motion (RIM), today announced the launch of BlackBerry App World, an official app store for BlackBerry smartphones, in India.

The on-device application store brings together a wide range of free personal and business applications for users to discover, including applications specifically built for the Indian market, a release issued here today stated.

With this, the users can now download BlackBerry App World to their BlackBerry smartphone by visiting these websites -- www.blackberry.com/services/appworld/ or mobile.blackberry.com from their handsets.

BlackBerry App World is designed to automatically present the relevant catalogue of applications available for a user¿s specific BlackBerry smartphone model. It also can be accessed over both Wi-Fi and cellular networks.

BlackBerry App World features include, Front Page Carousel, Top Downloads, categories like games, entertainment, IM and social networking, news, weather, productivity and others, Search/Filter, reviews, recommend, Application Storage and Application Archiving along with Update Notifications.

BlackBerry App World is available for BlackBerry smartphones that include a trackball, touch-sensitive trackpad or touch-screen running BlackBerry OS version 4.2 or higher.

Users require an active BlackBerry data service plan with internet access to access BlackBerry App World.
