New Delhi Signalling a final break with Congress in Bihar, RJD Supremo Lalu Prasad said his party and LJP will put up candidates in the three Lok Sabha constituencies now held by the Sonia Gandhi-led party in the state.

Taking a jibe at Congress' decision to contest 37 of 40 Lok Sabha seats in Bihar, he said "if they (Congress) were so strong, why were they demanding seats from us? Instead, we should have demanded the seats from them."

Earlier this week, RJD and LJP headed by Ram Vilas Paswan announced a seat-sharing deal in Bihar leaving just three seats for Congress held by it now.

Prasad said he held Sonia Gandhi and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh in high esteem and insisted RJD was still ‘part and parcel of UPA’.

"We (LJP and RJD) are in UPA in Bihar. Congress alone is not UPA," he said.

Ridiculing Congress' decision to leave three seats in Bihar- two from where Prasad is contesting and the other where Paswan is in fray, Prasad said "why are they leaving three seats? Let them contest all 40 seats."

Prasad dismissed suggestions that desertion of his brother in law Sadhu Yadav, a sitting MP from party and some other RJD leaders, could weaken RJD.

He urged the media not to describe Sadhu Yadav as his brother- in-law saying, "we have been purified with their (Yadav and other RJD leaders, who joined Congress) exit".

LOYLTY OF POLITICIANS by B S GANESH, on 23 Mar 2009

OUR POLITICIANS ARE WORSE THAN ANIMALS. PLEASE DON'T MISTAKE ME. MY CONCLUSION IS BASED ON THEIR BEHAVIOUR. THEY ARE NOT LOYAL TO ANY PARTY AND PERHAPS NOT EVEN TO THEIR COUNTRY WHICH HAS MADE THEM GREAT. LOYALTY MUST BE FIRM AND MUST NOT VANISH AT ANY TIME. LALOO OR MANY PEOPLE SHOWED THEIR LOYALTY TO CONGRESS LED UPA FOR GETTING MINISTER'S POST. AS END OF THE TERM HAS COME LOYALTY IS BEING CHANGED. THIS MAKES ME FEEL MOST POLITICIANS ARE WORSE THAN ANIMALS. B S GANESH

RJD vs Congress by MDAS on 22 Mar 2009

It is high time the people of this country understand that all these regional parties inimical to notion of one country. We should have system of two or three parties and people should elect the hardworking sincere and truithful persons as MPs. These regional parties are just tools for individuals and they waiting bargain without any regard for the nation.

Birds of the same feather flock together only for some time! by Hiramany Devdutt on 22 Mar 2009

Why media like yours are shunning to write that that for this Political Mess in the Country only the Congress is solely responsible.for the same!Basicaly a partymof of coirrupt goons headed by corrupt leaders they corrupted more and made others known corrupts to prosper more. Not realksing that theses very corrupt elements will never resile from corruption having every one around corrupt then themselves.Had the Congress denounced corruption and sent its own corrupt elements behind bar, it could have nipped corruption amonst its allies. Now Sonia is now facing the her own alluies !

PMs in waiting by richard on 22 Mar 2009

It is surprising to see how many persons want to be the PM in this country. To think of it, this country did not have more than one person capable of becoming PM for nearly 20 years after its freedom! What these PMs want to give to the concept of ONE INDIA?

After the election they will be one again by Sanjay on 22 Mar 2009

Very strange they cant much fight the election together and will not give up the seat for each other, but will become a alliance called UPA on what basis? Is this coalition UPA only achievement being opportunist and willing to loot at any cost. They know if they fight the election together they will loose with greater margin they are just being opportunist and fooling the public that there is any difference among them. They are there to loot nothing else who wins the most seats will loot the most and command an higher price better try to get as many seats and distance themselves from the weak and corrupt center afterwards we will fool the public again. They will be again be the UPA after the next election.

Saddu is NOT brother of Rubbery, it is time to make narco test on their genes public. by Sec Alla Ullar on 22 Mar 2009

How can such a neech as Saddu Yaddav be brother of Rubbery jee or Lallluuu jee? Saddu is so not secallular. He is anti minroty and even opposed the Judge Banner jee report internally, but it was great saintliness of Lalluuu jee and Rubbery jee that they kept that incident secret so Saddu can mend his ways. But alas no, Saddu wants to go with muxlim baiters. Such neech people are not fit to be brother of Rubbery jee or BOL of Lalluu jee. In fact a narco test on chromosomes of Rubbery jee and Saddu jee must be conducted and it will scientifically prove that Saddu and Rubbery jee are not brother and sister. Judge Banner jee can lead this enquiry.

INC by JODH ARORA on 21 Mar 2009

What Lalu did was despicable when he alloted three seats for INC; thinking that he is God in Bihar. Biharis' know it well and that is why NITISH Kumar is CM and not Lalu. His popularity is daclining; even his BIL has deserted him.Why is he now boiling? He should behave like a junior partner in UPA government. He wanted to show that he can do what Mulana Mulaim Yadav did in UP. He was also trounced in UP by Kumari Mayawati JI.Lalu behave and remember, regional party can never become a major party; he is unlikely to get as many seats as he got in 2004; but INC will exceed seats this time. I hope INC gets majority on its own and then Lalu could accept a governorship in Goa or Utranchal.

congrss ...bjp...tie up by kristv on 21 Mar 2009

please introduce primaries to select candidates by Murgie Krishnan on 21 Mar 2009

Circumstances like the Bihar or Jharkhand pre-poll seat sharing disputes should make all concerned take another look at the institution of the primary. In an open primary the people are consulted even in the choice of candidates. It would be an interesting innovation of the Congress and the RJD were to contest "joint" primaries to decide who their common candidates would be. Primaries do reduce the power of party chieftains. Even in the US it took years of struggle citizens' groups, in the teeth of opposition by party bosses, to get legislation passed that mandates primaries. But given the risk of losing the seat altogether in the general election, it may not be as impossible a task. Will the Election Commission also contribute its mite by voicing its support, and offering to help conduct primaries, at least in limited areas on a trial basis? Primaries would be a contribution to internal party democracy.

Two sides of coins by Sreenivas on 21 Mar 2009

Congress still does not realize that RJD and Communists are two sides of same coin. At the end they will dismiss Congress.

RJD signals break with Cong as Lalu sticks to his stand by Krish on 21 Mar 2009

Even three seats to congress is too much given their strength in Hindi Heartland and elsewhere in India. At last, some leaders are standing up against the autocratic congress and exposing its real strength in modern India.

UPA gone with the wind by Varinder on 21 Mar 2009

UPA was formed with sole aim of grabing power. Atleast people of India has seen the pathetic conditon of 120 years old congress party.

NDA is blown away by that wind by Raj on 21 Mar 2009

And NDA is blown away by that wind. SIlly people, silly ideology to kill and loot people in the name of religion and gods.

This is a temporarry game only.... by Deshbhakt on 21 Mar 2009

This is not a final break, only a pre-poll tamasha. After the poll, every party joins hands with Congress, with the sole aim of preventing BJP from forming government at the Centre. These power hungry local straps could stoop to any low level, just to prevent BJP from coming to power at Centre.

UPA RJD by D.A.Eswar on 21 Mar 2009

Why English Media is not reporting aggressively as they are supporter of UPA. Better if UPA disintegrates and loses poer for India .

UPA way better than others by Ambuj on 21 Mar 2009

I don't if you have any idea...but we'll be far worse with BJP at helm which plays religion politics.Despite varun speaking offensively, he has been offered a seat.

Congress is hoist with its own petard by Feroze Rangoonwala on 21 Mar 2009

Congress has nothing to complain about this development. For fifty years it has been following this kind of degenerate politics in the country, and sooner or later, it was going to be hoist with its own petard.
