Dharamsala A local court has extended by three days the police custody of two students, accused in the death of 19-year-old medical student Aman Kachroo allegedly due to ragging in Kangra district of Himachal Pradesh.

District and Session Judge, Kangra, P S Rana extended the police custody of Abhinav Verma and Mukul Sharma till March 19.

The court accepted the plea of government advocate B S Pathania that police requires more time to investigate the tragic incident and extended the custody of the duo, who are in their second year at Dr Rajendra Prasad Government Medical College Tanda.

Abhinav and Mukul were on the run after the incident on March 8 but surrendered in the same court on March 10.

The police custody of two other accused Vijay Kumar Verma, an intern in the Tanda medical college and Naveen Verma - was earlier extended till March 17.

Meanwhile, a relative of Kachroo visited his hostel last night to collect his personal belongings.

"I met Anil Chauhan, principal of the college and requested him to ensure that such a tragedy does not repeat," Rohit Dhar, uncle of the victim, said.

Ragging at SPA, Delhi by PBB on 17 Mar 2009

Last year, ragging also took place at SPA, Delhi. Students residing in SPA Hostel avoid making any complaint against seniors to get supports from them in future. Authority of SPA should do frequent checking of all corners/rooms/Lawn/Roof top of the Hostel in the late night to stop the menance.

Ragging death by iquebal on 17 Mar 2009

I have been in a professional colege and have faced ragging. Unless the adminstration of the colleges where ragging is taking place is taken to task it won't stop. The colleges tends to turn a blind eye to ragging. I was lucky to be in a college where strict action was taken against the stiudents who where either caught ragging or against whom they recieved complains. Also some of the staff members used to make rounds of the college when a new batch joined. Our college was successful in preventing any severe ragging and we felt confident that we can complain against the seniors if they crossed the limit.

Responsible by Kumar on 16 Mar 2009

These culprits must not only be expelled from the college but MCI must ensure that there is no place in the medical society for criminals like them. Too many lives are shattered each year because of these criminal acts - this has to stop and stop now!

PRISON by DA on 16 Mar 2009

These guys should be sent to atleast 5 years in prison. The guilty if convicted, should be sentenced so that other students in colleges and school are careful. But I do not know if a corrupt judiciary and police would be interested in nailing the guilty...
