Mumbai Kolkata-based model Dimpy Ganguly has walked out of her four-month-old marriage to Rahul Mahajan, son of BJP leader Pramod Mahajan, alleging domestic violence.

Dimpy had married Rahul with much fanfare on the Imagine TV reality show "Rahul Dulhaniya Le Jayega" in March this year.

"Rahul beat me up early on Thursday morning after waking me up to know the contents of a message that had beeped on my phone. When I asked him to go back to sleep, he flew into a rage and began hitting me. He punched, kicked and dragged me by hair," the 22-year-old model told a TV channel.

Rahul could not be reached over phone for his comments.

This is the second time that Rahul, who was also involved in a drug abuse case, has been accused of domestic violence.

His first wife Shweta Singh, who was his childhood friend, had accused him of physically abusing her. The couple got divorced in 2008 after which Rahul participated in Colors' reality show "Big Boss". He continued to be in the limelight for his closeness with co-contestants Monica Bedi and Payal Rohatgi.

Incidentally, Rohatgi too has alleged harassment by Rahul, saying he has been calling her asking for a second chance.

"I just don't want to be harassed anymore. That's about it. I don't want to speak to him. He is a married guy," Rohatgi said.

Senior BJP leader Pratap Ashar, a close associate of Pramod Mahajan who was present at the live wedding function of Rahul and Dimpy, refused to be drawn into the controversy saying that he did not know anything.

Spoilt son of politicians are on news cover, not the heroes of the nation by Dr Umesh K Dash on 02 Aug 2010

These are useless news about some useless, spoilt, arogant person, who is son of a politician. First NDTV imagine made him look like a hero, though he had history of wife beating, cocaine abuse and what not. Now news papers and media are again showing his photographs just to get TRP. It is very sad that media has to do all these. Please bring the news about our true heros, soldiers fighting at the boarder and dying for the country, please publish the pictures of their family, their village and everything about them including emotions and love in their life. Our politicians will never send his son to the battle feild to save the honour of motherland and only make him like Rahul Mahajan, unlike in many western country including USA and Britain many of the head of states has got Armed forces back ground. So hardly you will find any love or Patriotism for motherland in our politicians

Calculation gone wrong by S.Chakravarti on 30 Jul 2010

Got to see the news today on TV.Dimpy,s father had boasted about the calculations made by her daughter during the reality show to come out victorious little realising that the broom in question had an unpopular first marriage and wanted to genuinely settle down in life with an ordinary person not realising that woman these days want quick recognition to fame, money and social enhancement.Serves her right and will discourage future blunders by the womenfolk on the lookout for fame etc.No man can take lying down these kind of creatures.Rahul dont look back, you fill find some genuine soulmate.Leave her

A show that was bound to end this way by RJ Khurana on 30 Jul 2010

Why did a TV channel consider this scum of a man and good enough for a Syawmvar show that ran for several weeks and give him so much of undeserved publicity? Rahul Mahajan was a spoiled brat who had a history of severe drug addiction (Imagine a son doing drugs a night before he was to take the ashes of his celebrity father for immersion in the Ganges!) and wife-beating (his first wife sought divorce accusing him of domestic violence). He should have been in a mental asylum for treatment instead of being part of a glamour show. And what about the publicity hungry parents and and the girls who flocked for such shows as if the most eligible bachelor had offered himself for marriage? The parents should have known the fate that awaited their daughters. Sad, in this materialistic world human beings tend to lose all sense of discrimination between good and bad and proportion when fame and riches are in sight.

HINDU MARRIAGE ACT PREDICTS MARRIAGE IS SACRED by RAJAT KUMAR MOHINDRU .JALANDHAR CITY .PUNJAB on 30 Jul 2010

As domestic Violence act has been alleged by Mr Rahul Mahajan's wife , a serious issue that Why the marriage comes to a break within a short span ? Who is guilty ?.As per the Hindu marriage Act marriage is a sacred relation between wife and husband to live with each other for a long and the future off spring .

Are you for real? by Whatzin Aname on 30 Jul 2010

intrusive by HNair on 30 Jul 2010

lets admit it, why is Indian media reporting nonsense like this? Who is this guy Rahul Mahajan any way, other than being a reality TV show star and an apparent flirt? Why project this type of information into the public domain...let the parties involved choose to live together or separate. It is their call and broadcasting to the world does not help them or the world.

What flirt? by Whatzin Aname on 30 Jul 2010

He is no flirt, he is a guy with money and that's why women marry such guys.

Price to pay for marraige with celebrity by Raj Patel on 30 Jul 2010

She and her parents are popularity monger people and wanted to cash the fame of Rahul. You don't have to be intelegent to understand the cosequency of marring a Guy who has a history of violance and drug like Rahul Mahajan. There was a clear writting on the wall that " Kutte ki dum kabhi sidhi nahi hoti" She should have at least consulted his first wife before marring him. he is a vimzical kind of notorious Guy fortunately born in a famous family.Otherwise he would be in a gutter.

MARRIAGE IN HELL by toms on 30 Jul 2010

It is not surprising to see the marriage between them is nearing to break which has been lasted near about 4 months , it is very shemeful to any channels to conduct such kind of a pogram to find bride for a person who, s morale values are questioned before and was in contreversory about drug abuse, and the girl not deserve any sympothy as she was aware about the man whom she is going to marry, may be she did it only for publicity and money. This kinds of developement in society only describe how cheaply we are running behind of money, fame and popularity by forgetting the custems and values fo relationships and marriage life, the medias propagating this kind of stupid pogrammes are the crooked foxes to shoot up their popularity,

Rubbish by shanthanu on 30 Jul 2010

What is the news value in this report? worthless.

rubbish by sumit on 30 Jul 2010

I think the allegations are all rubbish. There is no domestic violence if there is some minor altercation. You cannot put a camera in your life and show it to the world, see what he did. One also has to look into the enticement by the wife. Nowadays women find it very easy to blame men for almost anything under the sun. However, if there is something concrete then there should be an investigation and further action as may deem fit.

I know by Rajnish on 30 Jul 2010

I know how exactly you feel Sumit. Little bit of punching/kicking and why so much fuss? After all looks like normal life to you. I am sure your perspective would have been a little different if you were at the receiving end!
