Mumbai, February 3: Terming Navnirman Sena chief Raj Thackeray as ‘just a child in politics’, Railway Minister Lalu Prasad made light of the former's advice to non- Maharashtrians saying it is better if people say ‘Jai Bharat’.

Talking to reporters after a function here, Lalu said Raj, whose party Maharashtra Navnirman Sena has been targeting migrants from north India living in this metropolis, is a political novice.

Staging protests is not going to solve any problem in these days of globalisation, Yadav said, adding issues like unemployment and development should get priority.

Taking exception to Raj's advice that non-Maharashtrians should shout the slogan ‘Jai Maharashtra’, the minister said people should instead say ‘Jai Bharat’.

Two days ago, Lalu had criticised Raj for objecting to celebration of Chhath Puja, a popular north India festival, and Uttar Bhartiya Diwas in the city.

Earlier in the day, the Railway Police arrested over 25 MNS activists who were demonstrating against Yadav at Dombivili railway station by showing black flags.

Raj Thackeray'justified concern ----- by romesh.sharma on 04 Feb 2008

Look who is critizing!Lalu Prasad, one of the most corrupt politician/person speaking of integrity of the Nation is insult to the very sense and meaning of it.He,Mayawati,Karunanidhi and AmarSingh like people are the one who are anti-Bharat and are constantly engaged in dividing the Nation and populace this all for greedy selfish interests.I don't mean what Raj is doing is right but he does have some substance behind of his frustration.Let us forget of Maharashtra at the moment and see the plight of Punjab which was the only progressive and prosperous state but today the intrnal condition is gone seriously bad.The reason is flow of migrants from Bihar,Bengal,UP,Kashmiri muslims and many from Nepal. This migration has forced the Punjabi youth to leave Punjab to foreign countries where there is no future but hopes. In Punjab, before thirty years there was practically no muslims but today it looks as it was before partition. With these people the security and peace is jeopardized. Those who came to work are slowly and steadily buying land.It won't take long when Punjabis will be minority in own state. The same kind of fear has Raj Thackeray which is well justified. If the Govt of India has to keep the exisiting provincial union system with ethnic backgrounds this kind of problems will further escalate. To avoid such unwanted protests and slogans of separate identities the GOI has to delete the Laws of special status to many states in the Uninon/Republic.Articles 370,370-A,B,C ---- and 371 are the main reason of resentments. In J

THE INSCRUTABLE SILENCE by Ramachandran on 04 Feb 2008

Why not the Queen Sonia and her prince Rahul maintain this inscrutable silence on the matter? WHY DO THEY FIND IT HARD TO PART WITH THEIR LIPS AND TO UTTER WHAT THEY THINK OF THE SITUATION? WHY DON'T THEY ASK THEIR CHIEF MINISTER TO ACT?

congres rule or MISRULE IN MAHARASHTRA by ramesh kumar on 04 Feb 2008

ONLY CONGRESS IS CAPABLE OF PRERMITTING SUCH DIVISIVE POLITICS IN THE COUNTRY.ANOTHER EXAMPLE OF HOW A STAE CAN BE RULED ! CONGRESS AT CENTRE IS SILENT SPECTATOR.WHAT IS HOME MINISTER OR PM WHO UNDERSTAND PAIN OF MINORITY ONLY,DOING.IT APPEARS SINCE PEOPLE BEING ILLTREATED ARE NOT FROM MINORITY ,SO IT IS OK FOR THEM.

raj thackeray! You leave Mumbai! by alakh on 04 Feb 2008

If anyone should leave maharashtra, then that person should be this insolent raj thackeray! We maharashtrians, across all stratas, do not endorse his views, nor do we want somebody like him to try and represent us and our views! raj thackeray hasn't been loyal to his own family and has shamelessly bit the very hand that fed and nurtured him, that hand being, Hon'ble Balasaheb Thackeray! how can a raj, a person of such low morals

Political novice. by Mathew P. Abraham on 04 Feb 2008

Such novice should simply be ignored instead of giving reply to their idiotc utterances, there by getting prominence in the media.

Raj Thackeray a political novice: Lalu by Meenalochani on 04 Feb 2008

US has become a great power because it welcomed the best from all over the world and nurtured them. This is a kind of enlightened selfishness. Today Mumbai is the commercial capital and has grown so because of its cosmopolitan culture. An isolated Maharashtra or for that matter any State cannot survive in this era of globalisation and if these are the kind of leaders to rule us God save the country. People like Raj Thackeray should keep in mind the maharshtrians living outside Mahsarashtra before uttering such nonsense.

Attack on Biharis by richard on 03 Feb 2008

I do not know what job will the men interested in hitting helpless men on the road on the strength of crowd support are interested in doing. It is better for all the people living in Mumbai to know that the they are dependent on supplys from other states for their living. If they stop supplying these goods, Mubai will loose its business and it will affect their opportunity to better their own living. I sincerely hope, Raj, in order to gain power would not jeoperdise the future of Maharastrians in this city.
