Mumbai, January 9: In a sarcastic remark, Maharashtra Navnirman Sena chief Raj Thackeray ‘thanked’ Maharashtra Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh for not arresting him.

Thackeray, who was the chief guest at his son's school, made this comment when the organisers of the function thanked him for his presence.

"Don't thank me. Thank Vilasrao that I am still out," he said while speaking at the function.

Later while talking to the students he told them not to call Mumbai as Bombay as the word Mumbai is derived from the word Mumbadevi, the goddess and 'Aai' is the Marathi word for mother.

Maharashtra Navnirman Sena chief Raj Thakre is right and had the guts to speak the truth. His call about criminals from down trodden states entering Bombay/Maharashtra may be accepted for the national debate. Talking nonsense and cashing on political gains hardly benefit this country. Poor quality 'NETAs' talking about the Indian Constitution which I am sure they do not know ABCD of, is making the mockery of India and the problem will get multiplied day by day and spread from one state to the another.WHICH CLAUSE OF THE CONSTITUTION: Allows rogue from one village/town/city/state to ruin their own place administratively/ecnomically/socially/morally and move to other village/town/city/state and grab the government land to build shelter and settle. Permit such rogue settlers to add to the numbers by inviting tens and hundreds of fresh settlers to do the same. To add to adminstrative, municiple, overloading sewage system, over Congestion, crowding roads/railways and ruin the city

Who started this gr8 divide by Jai Maharashtra on 13 Feb 2008

I really am surprised by the reaction of the people who bame Raj thakeray for dividing the country. Maharashtra has always allowed people from all origins to settle here but why suddenly this gr8 anger on the migrants. Actually this was a reaction to the power show started by Mayawati, Mulayam and Amar Singh in Mumbai. Organising rallys, asking for quotas for North Indians , cant these people shut up ? As far as the gr8 divide goes give me a single educational institute run by Maharashtrain people who only give admissions to Marathi speaking population ? There is none. and here we go Mithibai for gujjus, Thadomal for Sindis, Anjuman Islam for Muslims, Dalmiya for Hindi speaking population, Xaviers for Chrishtians.....and there are many other colleges. Please ...but this was started by the very people who came to Mumbai and we welcomed them. So this reaction was inevitable from the locals.

raj thackray by Pramodu.S on 11 Feb 2008

Raj is a cheap politician who is our part of rottened politics. These kind of people are equivalent to the militants making troubles. He should be aware of the situation in Maharashtra. People from outside state is running industries,Major shops etc etc. Not the local people.I was in Maharashtra for 6 years.Shiv sena and navnirman sena are always playing dirty politics to survive. Why don't they oppose underworld and criminal activities?Actually they don't have guts.

Raj Thackeray thanks C.M..... by A.A.Choudhari on 10 Feb 2008

Can it be simpl only be the MNS leader Raj Thackeray' fancy that he is making comments in regard to the outsiders coming to Mumbai depriving the locals of share of bread in Maharashtra. Every Maharashtrian leader, though does not agree by the method with which his comments have been selectively abusive of the outsiders coming from other states, share his opinion that after formation of the linguistic states, while other states were formed on the basis of the majority of people speaking a particular language Maharashtra only were tied with Gujarath forming a bilingual state. The history of how a separate Maharashtra state was formed with so much of sacrifices and bloodshed is well known. In Mumbai, the capital of Maharashtra local remonstrance for giving preference to the people coming from other states, and the bossing of their leaders cannot ever be tolerated.Have any of the other states shown so much accommodative attitude till now.Has Carnataka shown any co-operation in regard to settling disputes about Belgaum and other Marathi speaking areas. Have the south indian states accepted Hindi as national language even after 60 years of independence. How should Maharashtrians only be accommodative and continue to show "Bhai Chara" as if they are second class citizens. Raj may be incorrect but others have to think over this aspect deeply.

BANISH THEM FOREVER FOREVER OR THE HISTORY WILL NOT FORGIVE THE WHOLE NATION FOR PUTTING UP WITH THEIR GOONDAGIRI AND NONSENSE FOR SO LONG by HUM HINDUSTANI on 10 Feb 2008

All these three goondas - Bal Thackeray, Uddhave Thackeray and Raj Thackeray have first violated the laws and then justified their actions. They should be told that even one violation now would mean lengthy incarceration for them all and the political apparatus who depend on such goondas should also be told in no uncertain terms that this will not be tolerated anymore. It is clear from all what they have done all these years that they have created massive law and order problems which this poor nation can ill-afford because it costs millions and crores of rupees to manage the law and order situation created by their stupidity and goondagiri. If anybody obstructs any officer of the government or the law, a criminal case should be registered against him and he should be arrested. If necessary, the state and central governments should be ordered to use paramilitary forces against these goondas. It seems the Law has become an ass in the hands of such goondas. We know those who have the tendency of violating law will go to any extent but this has now gone beyond all limits and should be banished forever. It is time for the courts to order the State and Central Governments to deal with this goondagiri with an iron hand and banish these Goondas forever from the face of this land.

JUST THREE SEMI-LITERATE GOONDAS MAKING THE ASS OF THE LAWS AND HOLDING THE WHOLE NATION TO RANSOM by HUM HINDUSTANI on 10 Feb 2008

Bal Thackeray, Uddhav Thackeray and Raj Thackeray are nothing but a motley group of semi-literate goondas who have become a law unto themselves, are habitual offenders and who are making ass of the law while the spineless and Hijra sarkars in the State and Central, home ministries and the police just sit back and watch while they play havoc with the economy and unity of the country and the lives and sentiments of millions of human beings. In all these years they have incited and have been involved in countless number of incidents of violence, mayhem and murder. And with that they have violated so many Central and State laws for so long that it is time the the mass media and the courts took over the role of the guardians of the nation’s conscience and safeguard the right to life, liberty and property and movement enshrined in our constitution. It is time the media takes the role of campaigners against these goondas and the courts order that both the State and Central Government authorities visit these goondas and provide the courts with a comprehensive report on the total violations that have taken place in the country due to these three goondas in all these years. The courts must find where the fault lies and should not fear to name names of all those who are hand in glove with these three goondas and also tell everyone that there will be no compromise with the laws of the land, the Constitution and the human rights of people.

Gandhiji must have these three musketeers when he read Chinese Sage and Phidosopher of the Old and will have to carry out research whether why they did not find any Marathik Manus to write such words of wisdoms!

Now that some one cautioned you against this goondaism you do not like it.

Need for honest introspection ! by Shard C. Misra on 10 Feb 2008

The taunt and ridicule hurled at the Mumbai police shows how law-abiding and responsible the young Thackeray was. In any case, taking an objective view, it is a hard reality of the market-driven economy that only the fittest survive, be it industry or agriculture or low-paid services like vending vegetables, driving taxis, serving as watchmen in the residential buildings. If the sons of the soil are equally hardworking and efficient they would be preferred for such services to UP-Bihar Bhaiyyas. Who prevents them from selling vegetables at roadside or working as watchmen in Mumbai ? The main reason for the influx of people from North India into Mumbai is the availability of job opportunities in the service sector in the absence of the locals not coming forth to take up such small jobs and the under-development of these States. In fact, in the past people of Bihar even emigrated to Fizi, Surinam and Mauritious as indentured labor to work in plantations. They preferred life to death unlike the farmers in Maharashtra. But we do agree that the Government of UP and Bihar should work hard for economic development of the States rather than indulging in low-level politics. They have to take a lesson from Gujarat. We have nor seen a single Gujarati vegetable-vendor or milkman in Mumbai.

Support for Raj by Noor Ahmed Sheriff on 09 Feb 2008

I think he has raised a valid point. The South Indian States too are facing the same issue. Inspite of success of the Population control, the southern states stand to lose because more seats will go to North India in the next reallotment of Parliament Seats. Moreover Now the North Indians settle down in the Southern States and take over all the meagre resources available. I fully support Raj Thackrey

BAL THACKERAY, UDDHAV THACKERAY AND RAJ THACKERAY ARE LITTLE FROGS DROWN DROWNING IN THE MUCKY DITCH OF SHIVAJI PARK THINKING THEY ARE IN A BIG OCEAN by Baba Amte on 09 Feb 2008

You don't raise valid points by Goondagardi. You work within the rule of law and not take the law into your own hands. In a democracy if you do not agree with the other person, there are avenues through which you can take up your matter like writing to the media or going to a court of law or persuading by proper means the lawmakers to change the law. Neither Raj, Bal or Uddhav Thackeray have had any refined education. All have been through third rate Marathi medium municipal schools and do not have an iota of knowledge of economics or any other social sciences. And neither have seen the world outside Shivaji Park in Amchi Mumbai. First ask them to see the world outside India, broaden their horizons and see how people are governed elsewhere in the world. I consider Bal Thackeray, Uddhave Thackeray and Raj Thackeray to be frogs doing their 'drown' 'drown' noises in the mucky ditch of Shivaji Park, Dadar thinking that this is the big ocean.

I support Raj by jay on 09 Feb 2008

I supoport Raj. Outsiders MUST learn local language and culture if they like to settle in others' place. We must not allow Bhia-isation of all India. West Bengal, mainly its cities are facing the same problem. “Outsiders” should do their part to assimilate into the local culture. If they don’t like local culture, then do not come to my place. India is not a homogenous country; it never was. The best way to move forward is to recognise the dirrencce rather than glossing over that and sign the old song of "unity in diversity".

Raj Thackeray V/s Amar Singh by Varinder Sarin on 09 Feb 2008

If one wants to learn the art of "Making Mountain of a mole hill" one should contact Mr. Amar Singh of Smajwadi Party on paper but infact of Bollywood. The things were calm on whatsoever Raj Thackeray has commented on big "B" until great Amar Singh called a press conference and not satisfied with it, even hold a rally next day. Thus making the war between Raj's Party and North Indians, which was totally wrong.Calling of Press conference and Rally was a childish and immature action which resulted in flairing up the tempers. Amar Singh and Mulayam Singh wanted to take political mileage after getting beaten hands down in UP. If Raj has said some thing unwarranted to Big "B" what was the necessity for M/s Amar Singh, Mulayam Singh to add fuel to the fire. Ignoring of Raj would have been the ideal and would have hurt Raj much more.Nevertheless if Raj Thackeray is guilty for saying something irrelevent about big "B" so is Amar Singh, Rizvi and Mulayam Singh for inciting indirectly to N.Indians to gird up their loins. What will the politicans lose, as usual commonmen and poor are losers in the game of Politicians.

Thackerays of this world by Anant on 09 Feb 2008

There is a saying that heaven and hell are on earth and not above in the sky. There are angels of heaven like Baba Amte who spent all his life serving mankind and there are satans of hell like Thackerays, Modis, Advanis and Tytlers who spend all their life destroying mankind. Perhaps there is a lesson for our Muslim friends that no one goes to heaven after causing destruction and there are no Hoors waiting. All is here on earth, just look around. Indian politicians already have destroyed Indian unity by practising religion based politics and now they are going beyond that by playing state based politics. When is the Indian population going to learn their lesson and not fall for destructive politics? We are all Indians and our unity is our strength.

Again………………. people argue how everybody can stay everywhere as it is part of India. People argue about staying in US/UK and being able to do business. You are correct but only partially. Can you do business in say London in Marathi? You will be asked to get out immediately. Same is happening in US. The American citizens are protesting strongly against Latinos who are Spanish speakers. That said, all countries in the world expect outsiders to integrate in their society. Look at all the laws Europeans are establishing to protect their own cultures. Go to south or north India and you will get your behind kicked if you try to establish your language in their states. There is nothing wrong for Maharashtrians to demand Marathi as a language of communication and integration of immigrants from other states in Maharashtrian culture.

LITTLE FROGS OF AMCHA MUCKY DITCH IN SHIVAJI PARK by Hindustan Ki Kasam on 10 Feb 2008

Indians from one province of India living in the other integral part of India are not foreigners and have a constitutional right and guarantee to live, carry on business and earn their livelihood in any other part of the country they wish without being harassed by goondas like Raj, Bal or Uddhav Thackeray. And under this constitutional right and guarantee, it is the duty of the State and Central Governments, state and central Home Ministries and police to safeguard and protect the lives, liberty and property of the citizens. Marathi Manus what you say has no logic. On the one hand some people here are saying that all politicians including Bal Thackeray divide people on the basis of caste, religion and so on for their vote bank politics and then on the other hand contradict themselves by justifying goondas like Raj Thackeray. By the same arguement, what about millions of Marathis living and working in other provinces of India? Should they be asked to go back to so-called 'Amchi Mumbai' Will Bal, Uddhav or Raj Thackeray accommodate these millions of Marathis working in other States in their homes if they are sent back to where they came from? And Marathi Manus, what do you know of the European laws? You have not even stepped outside Dadar and seen the world? Let me educate you and inform you then that with the establishement of the European Union, now people of one European country can go and live and settle down in any other European country they like. And that is why America, Australia, Canada, the UK and Europe are so prosperous. The real Ram Rajya that Gandhiji had dreamed of is really in this countries. So come out of your mucky ditch, you little frog and see the big ocean outside your ditch. DOnt' compare apples with oranges by Harish Salve on 09 Feb 2008

Hello, think before you right rubbish. You are comparing countries with Maharastra - Maharashtra is part of India. In US or EU there is no restriction for travel or doing anything you want form one state to another - even if you are a German you can speak German in UK or any EU country and have all EU rights. So too in India, you can live in any part of India and do what you want. I am a Maharashtrian settled in Tamil Nadu for 3 Generalations and we are doing extremely well. The people of Tamil Nadu are so very good and kind. I am sure such is the case in any state in India. People like Raj are the ones who could divide India. We cannot let a rascal like Raj decide whether we need one India or a divided India.

The problem is, they are capable of spreading their rot much faster if they are at the helm. He is an idiot. Raj Thakery's intentions are ok but approach is not by Prakash Kapila on 09 Feb 2008

Raj must include everybody in his politics.Everyone is human being and everyone must be respected as equal. There cannot be more equals and less equals.Wether its mumbai or chennai states must encourage outsiders to settle in the state that is how we as India will remain strong.Division among us was the reason Britishers ruled us,muslim rulers invaded us,We allowed our Raja's and maharaja's to do that before,But we cannot allow our present rajas(politicians) to do that. This is question of Nation and India's independence, soverignity nobody is above it or bigger than it.If Raj becomes obstinate we will become more obstinate, what one Raj thakery we can fight with millionis of such Raj's .Raj must change his stance or face explusion from his state. This is what Indians stand for and will fight for,we will not take rest whether its thakery or anybody we will match his agression with our own aggression, his tactics with ours and his weakness will be ripped apart. If Raj wants to survive as politician then he must change there are no IF's and BUT's.
