Mumbai, February 21: Maharashtra Navnirman Sena chief Raj Thackeray on Thursday moved the Sessions Court in Mumbai, seeking to set aside a police order prohibiting him from holding rallies within Mumbai.

Raj, who triggered off a campaign against North Indians early this month, has been prohibited from organizing demonstrations, rallies, processions, giving provocative statements in media, holding press conferences and shouting slogans to cause breach of peace or cause obstruction in the city.

The order was passed by DCP Vijaysingh Jadhav on February 14, and will be in operation till February 25.

On Thursday, Raj's lawyer Sayaji Nangre, filed a review petition against this order, which will be heard on Friday.

IMPOSE THE SAME PROHIBITORY ORDERS ON BAL THACKERAY AND UDDHAV THACKERAY, TOO by Chora Ganga Kinarewala on 23 Feb 2008

Public opinion all over Mumbai, Maharashtra and India is gathering momentum against the narrow-minded parochial and divisive politics of Bal Thackeray, Uddhav Thackeray and Raj Thackeray and calls are increasingly being echoed throughout the nation that the action of the State and Central Government and the police prohibiting Raj Thackeray from organizing demonstrations, rallies, processions, giving provocative statements in media, holding press conferences and shouting slogans to cause breach of peace or cause obstruction in the city should be extended to Bal Thackeray and Uddhav Thackeray too. The media has been doing an excellent job having come out as the champion of our freedoms and it is also time for the judiciary, too, to show its mettle. All these three goondas - Bal Thackeray, Uddhav Thackeray and Raj Thackeray have first violated the laws and then justified their actions. They should be told that even one violation now would mean lengthy incarceration for them all and the political apparatus which depend on such goondas should also be told in no uncertain terms by the people, press, parliament and the courts that this will not be tolerated anymore. It is clear from all what they have done all these years - that they have created massive law and order problems which this poor nation can ill-afford because it costs millions and crores of rupees to manage the law and order situation created by their stupidity and goondagiri.

THE RULE OF LAW SHOULD PREVAIL AT ALL TIMES by A LEGAL EAGLE on 23 Feb 2008

It seems this semi-literate Dehati goonda has not heard of or know anything about the doctrine of the rule of law. This is the doctrine that should be sacrosanct in any democracy that no individual, however powerful, is above the law. The principle had a significant influence on attempts to restrain the arbitrary use of power by rulers and politicians and on the growth of legally enforceable human rights in many Western countries, especially Great Britain. It is this doctrine that separates legislative from judicial power. The most important application of the rule of law is the principle that governmental authority is legitimately exercised only in accordance with written, publicly disclosed laws adopted and enforced in accordance with established procedural steps that are referred to as due process. The principle is intended to be a safeguard against arbitrary governance, whether by a totalitarian leader or by mob rule. Thus, the rule of law is hostile both to dictatorship and to anarchy. It seems Raj Thackeray has been educated in some Marathi medium panchayati-run village school. Time your parents sent you to some proper school as you need to learn all your lessons all over again. Let us also tell this self-proclaimed Thomas Jafferson Dada that the Indian public is in a fine fettle to teach you some very hard lessons unless you show a marked improvement in your behaviour which at present is nothing but GOONDAGIRI AND DAKUGIRI. No educated and refined person would behave the way you do.

Time up by psw on 22 Feb 2008

I agree. It is not just North Indian. Get the latest issue of outlook India, 40 years ago Bal Thackrey gave the slogan - Lungi hatao, pungi bajao for driving away south Indian from Mumbai, then he went to have tirade to drive out Gujrartis and Marwadis from Mumabi and finally it is North Indians, what is left is the bengalis and may be their Durga Puja celebrations. For 40 years the Thackreys have been tolerated and not only that they were allowed to poison the Maharastrain public. 60 lac maharastrains live in outside states including in Bihar ( Jamshedpur) and nobody even retialated ( which is a right approach). But now I think time is up for the Thackreys - they may have poisoned some people of Maharastra to support them and may have Congress party's tactical affirmation to do all these acts, but an enlightened public like you and me will ensure that time is really up for them.

Raj's statement against North Indian. by lalitranjan das on 22 Feb 2008

This is simple Politics in order devide society and get vote from one division .The statement Raj has given ,it has nothing to do with Marathi or North Indian in true sense .It is only cheap Politics to divide Siva sena votes .That is why ,Congress is not taking any bold action initially .

Raj Thackeray by Eddy on 22 Feb 2008

I not sure about the comment on the judges in Bombay. All judges are not the same. The Shiv Sena does not have the support of all Mahrashtrians. Wait and see.

Raj sucks by Dream Girl on 22 Feb 2008

Raj sucks. He should put behind bars. He and his goondas have no right to beat up people who have come to Mumbai to earn their living. Mr. Thackeray, think of all the Marathis' in other parts of India. So stop your madness. Grow up and be sensible.

Manish by Manish on 22 Feb 2008

That's true.

raj moves court by Vidyadhar Akkaraju on 21 Feb 2008

Raj should be prosecuted for inciting violence, arson and murder. Regardless of their motive or politics nobody should be allowed to get away with such carnage. Freedom of speech does not include inciting or participating in a riot. What we need is the political will to make an example of such people as Raj.

Prohibitory orders by HS on 21 Feb 2008

I think this prohibitory order should not be repealed against such stupid rabble rousers. Infact Bal Thackrey and Uddhav Thackeray should also be similarly banned. When ever these stupid leaders openned their dirty mouth they spew venom on either the north Indians or minority community. Even leaders like Pravin Togadia and Singhal of VHP, Bajrang dal should be banned too. They should be gagged for life time so that they do not create a wedge between we indians.

The Judge will help Raj ( ? ) by Chandramohan Shinde on 21 Feb 2008

What is wrong in it ? It is just as Hindi Bhaiyya leaders siding with Hindi Bhaiyyas. It is all Mili bhagat. The issue started with Bhaiyya Leader's threatening speeches in Mumbai.

Raj by Gaurav Goel on 21 Feb 2008

Shant ho jao Manoos. No body is threatning Marathi's. Your freaking leader said that Northies were giving threratning speaches and you also accepted their statement without finding the actual truth. Of all Marathi loosers, Raj is the biggest.

Raj by Vasanti on 21 Feb 2008

Raj has to understand one thing whether they are bhaiyyas or marathis all are Indians and everyone has a right to earn their livelihood in any part of the country, his act has not helped anyone so he should think about it like a mature person.
