Kolkata, March 14 In order to inculcate the moral values among the students, the Ramakrishna Mission Vivekananda University at Belur Math has launched a story book series for the students of age group 11 to 16 years.

The books, which have been designed by the mission and have been contributed by the monks, will be included in the syllabus of class VI to IX of the 50 schools run by the mission countrywide.

“The students will not be assessed on the basis of these books. But we have formed a group of five to six students and have asked them to come up with some presentation,” said Brahmachari Rajeev, coordinator, Value Education Cell, Ramakrishna Mission.

A pilot project for using storybooks as tool for imparting moral values to the students was started by the mission across its nine schools — two in North-East, four in West Bengal and three in Tamil Nadu.

We introduced these storybooks in the schools last year after conducting a status report that the books have succeeded in inculcating value education in children, said a mission official.

The books are titled Arunoday (11-13 years), The Guiding Light (12-14 years), How Shall I Be (13-15 years) and Subho’s Adventure (14-16 years).

Other than this the institute has come up with some diary-cum- self-development journals titled Sanmarga Darshi (12-14 years), Vijnana Sarathi (13-15 years) and Atma Vikash for the age group of 14 to 16 years.
