The entire saffron brotherhood, including the chief ministers of BJP-ruled states of Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh, was present to protest against what they called “attempts to target Hindus in the name of Hindu terror”.
BJP president Rajnath Singh, who joined in towards the end, said his party “would take to the streets” if the “ongoing campaign against religious leaders was not halted.” Party’s prime ministerial candidate L K Advani couldn’t make it (“he couldn’t fly to Panipat because of bad weather,” said an Advani aide) to the meeting, but speaking at a rally in Chandigarh later in the day, he said, “The Congress coined the term Hindu terrorism, but the BJP never used any term like Muslim terrorism.”
Raising the pitch on the Pragya Singh Thakur issue, Ramdev said: “Power is today being exercised by people who should either be in jails or who should be hanged. There will be a massive tussle for power three months hence. The country needs a big change, where Sant Shakti (religious gurus) and Jan Shakti (people power) come together. This process will not stop until the glory of India’s past is restored.”
The Yoga guru’s ongoing Yoga Vigyan Shivir in the same grounds has been a huge draw. However, the turnout in Sunday’s public meeting was extremely poor. Ramdev’s six-day camp was inaugurated on November 12. Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda visited the camp the next day.
The congregation on Sunday charged the Congress-led UPA Government of running a “sponsored campaign” in the ongoing Malegaon blast probe. RSS chief K S Sudarshan said that the term “Hindu terror” was an “oxymoron, because the Hindus, by very definition abhor violence”. He said, “The country would always be guided by spiritual gurus like Asaram Bapu, Morari Bapu, Sri Sri Ravi Shankar and Baba Ramdev.” On his part, Ramdev added that “the Muslims and Christians of the country shared common ancestors with the Hindus.”
Quoting a TV channel, Rajnath said, “The ATS claims of Lt Col Purohit’s sourcing of RDX for the Samjhauta blasts may not hold water now that it is being said that ammonium nitrate and sulphuric acid were used in the blasts.”
While most of the speakers said that Pragya, like “Shankaracharya Jayednra Saraswati earlier” was being hounded only because she happened to be “a saffron-clad ascetic”, a good number of them said that “even if her involvement in terror was established, it could not be equated with Islamic terror”.
Swami Chidananad Saraswati, who recently organised a “dialogue” between Advani and Christian leaders, was one of the organisers of Sunday’s public meeting. Asked how “voices of reconciliation” had suddenly changed notes, he said: “Punish the guilty in the blasts, but don’t brand him guilty before the charges are established.” Asked how religious gurus like Ramdev could make political comments, he said: “The political overtones in his speech only show that the sant samaj is hurt as they are being viewed with suspicion”.

(Contd) So far, the only evidence against Sadhwi was the bike which was registered in her name. But, she claims it had transferred hands much earlier. What is the truth? Another evidence against her was that some onlooker overheard her talking on the mobile phone with some accomplice about the blast. Do you think she is so dumb to use a speakerphone instead of the earphone when talking about such matters so that an onlooker can overhear both sides of the conversation? I think, the ATS will have a lot of explaining to do in the court if the case comes up for hearing. Probably, they would not file a case in the court, but keep all the accused in custody till the next elections under the MCOCA!!!
The actions of the Maha ATS are on predictable lines. Even before the Sadhwi was arrested, there was widespread cries for banning almost all Hindu organizations after the anti-conversion protests/riots in Orissa and Karnataka. Probably, the Government of India is under tremendous pressure also from the Christian and Muslim nations to find evidence of "Hindu Terror" The Maharashtra ATS first linked the Sadhwi to the Malegaon blasts then arrested a serving Army Officer who had contacts with her. They went on to say that Lt. Col. Purohit was involved in providing RDX, which he got from Jammu for the Samjhauta express blast. But they have to retract that statement now because, Purohit was only a Major and that too in the intelligence wing when in Jammu and it was not possible for a person holding such a position to have any access to military ammunitions, forget RDX. Moreover, it is also reported that he had no arms training and therefore, cannot train others in bomb making.
I am glad, Baba Ramdev has lent his voice against the vicious compaign against the Sadhvi. Convicted MPs/MLAs continue holding positions (and dictat the government) and here is a Sadhvi who is being convicted by media just on base of charges. Saints and Sadhvi's are foundation of Hinduism and by implication (and let there be no nonsense of political correctness here) they are foundation of India. People who play with that need be responded in non violent and vigorous ways.

Now People and justice system should realise, why instead of giving power to other state like Gujarat, Rajasthan and other they keep ATS kind power to only Maharastra to act on behalf of other state.

By the look of it, few of the commentators such as Nautankee, Indian etc are so blindly biased against and use very cheap language to criticize others. I wonder about basic character of such people boldly coming on to these columns and air comments on serious issues! Of Course, the author seems to lack depth in understanding statements, who reported without understanding purport of the statements given by the great Guru. It is a bit of a shame that Indian express (these days seem to have lost its quality)publish such reporting without edits!!! If I get to see few more of these kind of reporting, I contemplate to sposnor legal action against this newspaper!

Hello Friend.. I understand your feelings but, there is other side of the coin. From the pre-independence era many muslims are being provoked by ulemas, pseudo secularists. Many incidents are witnessing this. I am not supporting the saffron brigade or Brahmanical ideology. I have one thing to say. You are talking about post-Godhra issue. But what about Godhra incident? In what way will you be silented? How can you avoid the issue by being tight lipped? Are those terrorists who went Ayodhya for their god? Demolition of historical Babri masjid was against of the law. OK. But our same Indian history shows that about 30,000 temples were demolished by the muslim invaders. What the Hindu leaders are asking is "we don't want those thousands of temples, but the three main monuments. Those are Kashi Vishwanath temple, Ayodhya Ram janma bhumi, Madhura Krishna janma sthan. They are convinsing that, if the muslims they themselves built the Ram temple, we can erect a beautiful mosque at the each of the Indian villages. What will you say on this?
