Lucknow Blaming yoga guru Baba Ramdev for the shoe attack on Congress General Secretary Rahul Gandhi at a rally in Dehradun, Senior Congress leader Digvijay Singh said the former was aiding such elements to create unnecessary disruptions.

"All such incidents are spearheaded by Baba Ramdev. He is a great cheat and has taken commission for converting people's blackmoney into white. There are investigations going on against his unaccounted money by leading federal agencies like the Enforcement Directorate," Singh told media here.

"He has also received a notice of almost Rs 100 crore and has purchased an island in Scotland illegally. Where has he got so much money from, why is he not bothered about that," Singh added.

Kuldeep Singh, 26, hurled shoe towards Rahul Gandhi's dais as soon as he begun addressing his last poll rally at Vikasnagar in the outskirts of Dehradun on Monday.

The shoe-hurling incident on the Amethi MP came two days after a similar attack on Team Anna members in Uttarakhand. A slipper was hurled at Team Anna members during a public rally in Dehradun on Saturday.

The yoga guru, however, has said he has taught his workers to be cultured, tolerant and decent, and refuted suggestions that he was involved in the shoe-huring incident.

"I have not given any training like this to my workers. I have taught my workers culture, tolerance and decency. So, my workers cannot even dream of committing such terrible acts," Ramdev told media here.

Criticizing the attack, he said this new way of registering one's dissent was unfortunate.

"First, it was on Team Anna and now it is on respected brother Rahul Gandhi. This shoe-throwing tradition of protest is condemnable and not accepted at all. Such kinds of protests are not only disrespectful but also not in our Indian culture," Ramdev said.
