Kolkata, August 11 Prasun Adhikary, who was allegedly pushed off the fifth floor of the hotel he worked in by the crew of a Bengali reality television show, died on Monday night.

Adhikary, who had been showing constant signs of deterioration over the past two days, stopped reacting to treatment on Monday.

With Prasun breathing his last, the reputation and popularity of reality shows in India takes a beating once again.

Adhikary, kitchen supervisor at Hotel Ritz Bengal in Midnapore, was allegedly thrown off the building on Saturday night by the crew of Fatafati Filmy Fight.

He suffered a severe head and limb injury and was initially taken to Midnapore General Hospital.

However, as his condition became critical, he was shifted to the SSKM.

His family has decided to submit a deputation to the Superintendent of Police of West Midnapore and the Governor, demanding justice.

Some of his relatives approached the hospital authorities on Monday to request proper treatment.

The doctors, however, failed to revive him.

Prasun’s brother Palash said his family had lost all hopes of his survival.

“He was not responding to treatment and was running a temperature. We wanted to shift him to another hospital, but doctors said that he was in no state to be moved,” said Palash.

He also said that although the doctors were suggesting that Prasun be put on a ventilator on Sunday, it could be possible only today evening because of a shortage of ventilators in the hospital.

An inconsolable Palash also added that most of the allegations of the production crew were false and baseless.

“Though the production crew had said that Prasun was under the influence of alcohol when the incident occurred, they backed out when the police wanted to conduct tests on the hotel staff as well as the production crew,” he said.

Meanwhile, the three accused —- Rajiv Mehra, Goutam Jain and production assistant Somnath Roy Choudhury —- are still in police custody. “Investigations are on. We cannot comment on the incident right now,” said West Midnapore SP Rajesh Singh.
