Shimla, May 2: Former Olympian Charanjeet Singh demanded resignation of K P S Gill from the post of the President of Himachal Pradesh Hockey Association as well following his removal from the post of Indian Hockey Federation Chief.

"When he has been removed as the president of IHF what is the rationale of him continuing as chief of HP Hockey Association," Charanjeet, who was captain of the gold medal winning national team in 1964 Tokyo Olympics, said.

Charanjeet, who was also a part of the side which finished runner-up in 1960 Rome Olympics, said Gill did nothing for promotion of the sport in the state in last about 15 years despite occupying the high post.

The HP unit of IHF should be dissolved immediately and a new team comprising "genuine" sports lovers be set up to develop the game, said Charanjeet, who was awarded Padamshree as well as Arjun award in 1963 for his sporting talents.

Charanjeet said he would meet Sports Minister M S Gill and also Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal for improvement of the hockey in the hill state.

He also demanded "justice" to the state's Deepak Thakur, who was ignored for the national duty by the previous regime.
