Chandigarh, January 29 PU students have decided to constitute a forum ‘Samvaad’ for holding discussions on current issues and also conduct creative activities like screening of movies, documentaries, play performances, poetry recitation, etc.

A coordinator of the group, Ravi Saxena, a research scholar in the Department of Political Science said, “It is a forum launched by the research scholars of the varsity. We felt that discussions on important issues were not being held. We have received tremendous support for the venture. We will also like to spread to colleges and schools.”

The group is going to organise its first lecture ‘India - Roots and Routes’ on January 31. Prof Makarand Paranjape, an eminent writer and cultural critic from JNU, New Delhi, will deliver the lecture.

Saxena said, “The forum will provide an opportunity for conscious minds to express themselves. It aims at initiating constructive dialogue and discussion on topics of concern in a stimulating environment.”

Sources claimed that Samvaad would provide an opportunity for the students to interact with intellectuals and eminent personalities.
