Residents feel ‘at home’ on Raj Bhavan lawns

Chandigarh, January 27 ON Republic Day, Punjab Governor and UT Administrator Gen (retd) S F Rodrigues was ‘at home’ with the citizens of Punjab and Chandigarh, on the lawns of Punjab Raj Bhavan on Saturday.

The invitees from different walks of life started converging on Punjab Raj Bhavan before the start of the ceremony to greet the Governor. The pathway of Punjab Raj Bhavan was specially decorated to receive the gathering.

The ‘At Home’ function began as Punjab Police band played the National Anthem.

Among prominent personalities who came for the function included Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Parkash Singh Badal, cabinet ministers, Bikram Singh Majithia and Hira Singh Gabria, Goc-in-C, Western Command, Lt Gen T K Sapru, State Chief Information Commissioner, Rajan Kashyap and other State Information Commissioners.

Also present were the Punjab Chief Secretary R I Singh, Director General of Police, NPS Aulakh, serving and retired judges of Punjab and Haryana High Court, Principal Secretaries and Financial Commissioners of Punjab Government, Senior defence and Civil, Military and Police officers of Punjab.

UT Home Secretary Krishna Mohan, Finance Secretary Sanjay Kumar and Deputy Commissioner R K Rao were also present on the occasion. Also seen were Prof K K Talwar Director, PGI, Mayor Pardeep Chabbra, and PU VC Prof R C Sobti.

Senior officers of Western Command also greeted the Governor and Jean Rodrigues on this occasion. Farmers from different parts of the state also came to greet the Governor.
