Kolkata, January 4 Calcutta University (CU) is trying its best to ensure that the results of the review and supplementary examinations sought by those who appeared for their BA/BSc Part I, Part II exams last year (1+1+1) are out by February 2008. In this regard, the varsity will hold a series of meeting over the next few days with various people involved in the re-examination and re-evaluation process.

The first such meeting of the coordinators of all subjects was held on Friday where it was decided that there will be an on-the-spot re-evaluation of papers on the varsity campus.

The students submitted their review forms by December 19. The university says 20,000 students bought review forms from its counter this time. About 19,000 re-evaluation forms were submitted — 12 per cent of the examinees have opted for a review. After scrutiny, the varsity found out that 2,000 forms do not fit the criteria for re-evaluation, said controller of examination Onkar Sadan Adhikari. The students did not know that a requisite of 35 per cent marks in other subjects is necessary for the re-evaluation. Also, the students have to get the forms attested by the principal. From this year onwards, the review results for all subjects will be released on one day contrary to the earlier practice where the results were released subject-wise.

Of the 17,000 answerscripts that the university has to re-evaluate, the maximum are of Bengali and English, claim varsity authorities.
