Kolkata, May 28 The results of the Madhyamik examinations were put up on a website hours before the results were actually scheduled to be declared. According to some students, they could access the results on the site http://www.tathyabangla.org/. The matter was brought to the notice of the board authorities at the press conference.

“We have received complaints in this regard. We will definitely look into the matter,” said Mamata Roy, president of the West Bengal Board of Secondary Education. Subsequently, the board officials blocked the websites. The results were scheduled to be declared at 10 am, but students had to wait for another couple of hours for the results. The marksheets were dispatched from the centres and reached the schools by afternoon. According to the board officials, the websites did not function till 10:50 am. Last year, some TV channels had broadcast the details of the toppers even before the results were officially declared by the board. The authorities had then blamed the websites for the leak.

Today, principals of various schools were seen accompanying their students to the studios of TV channels. Ratan Kabasi, the principal of Akra Shaktigarh Rabindra Vidyapith, had his hopes on a couple of students. With Nilanjan Das making it to the merit list, the principal accompanied the student to the newsrooms of various channels.

“He is an extremely nice boy and comes from an ordinary family. He is extremely receptive in class, it is our pride that he has made it to the merit list, “ he said. Kanak Paria, the headmaster of Jadavpur Vidyapith, also accompanied the school’s star achiever Ronita to various newsrooms. Even as the boys fared better than the girls in the Madhyamik Examination, the results of which were declared on Wednesday, the girls outshone the boys in Kolkata. This year the state topper is Ronita Jana from Jadavpur Vidyapith who scored 798 marks out of 800.
