"It does worry me. These trends are the outcome of unfortunate things happened in July and August. The question is that secularism is getting shrunk at the cost of development," Azad said, adding that it should be "a worry for each and every Indian."
"The rise of BJP in the border state which is facing terrorism is a worrying factor for the entire country," he said.
"Their only vision is to create communal tension among the people," Azad said. "They are being rejected across the country because of their communalism."
In an apparent reference to the problems faced by Congress in its alliance with PDP, Azad said past experience would be taken into consideration while deciding the alliance partner.
He refused to comment about any alliance possibility saying that it shall be decided at the highest level by Congress chief Sonia Gandhi and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.
When asked about his personal choice, the leader said that he would choose a party whose national and secular credentials are known.
On the Amarnath land row, he said it was never a win-win situation for the Congress.
"If we had withdrawn (the order of land allotment) one region would have erupted and if we had not the other region would have. It is difficult to take a decision keeping all the three regions in mind," Azad, who was the chief minister when the row erupted this year, said.
Echoing the view of Azad, Minister of State in PMO Prithviraj Chavan too blamed the Amarnath land row for the dismal performance of the Congress in the Jammu and Kashmir assembly elections.
He said if land row had not erupted, the party would have swept the polls.
"It (hung assembly) was expected after the Amarnath land row. If land row had not happened, we would have swept the polls," he said.
"There is emotional anger but it does not reflect the reality," he said.

If People vote for Congress, then does that mean that they voted for Corruption. If you are a democratic party, you have to respect people's wishes and choice. The raise of BJP might be worrisome for Congress, but certainly not for people. For so long, the Kashmiri Pandits have been neglected. Now, BJP will take care of them.

the rise of the BJP should be a concern to all those pseudo secular parties and persons who blame the party for all their wrong doings.the rise of the BJP would ensure that the HINDUS are not treated as second rate citizens in their own country.the muslim political leaders like azad and antulay should first introspect themselves and ask why they lost rather than blaming the BJP.the BJP would never have risen in JK had the earlier govt be sensitive to the problems / aspirations of the HINDUS in the state.the congress lost because they played a double game with the public in the Amarnath land issue.
BJP may not be a complete clean party, but when you compare with others, especially congress, who claims to be a secular, are far better principled group. The stigma of communalism is given by the congress to save themselves. Are you blind? Can't you see the kind of timid operation in response to the Mumbai carnage with Pak! The congress has no balls to fire Antulay! Rather the congress is a communal party of disharmony in Indian society. Rise of BJP is absolute necessary to have peace in India.

He is right. BJP is like a virus. South India was free from this virus, but unfortunately it attacked Karnataka. Lets hope this virus doesnt spread to the rest of the 3 states. BJP has a wrong ideology in a secular country where all reigion live peacefully. But that peace wont last when RSS,VHP and BJP are functioning in our country. What this Azad was doing when Kashmiri Pandits were killed and became foreigners in their own country.What he is doing now for the safe return of them except a statement once a year. Rise of BJP means unity in Hindus and I welcome that. Their community is like that only when they killed thousand hindus by any means then some of their leader will give a statement and when BJP wins then this kind of statements will come.

No one is an angel. But if there are any concerned citizens in the Indian Political Spectrum, they can probably be found only in the BJP. It is time people learn to separate the chaff from the grain. This is, indeed, a good beginning. I hope the citizens of India keep this up and enable the country to be strengthened and progress.
It is not worrying for Kashmiris but people of Jammu will enjoy the rise of BJP, as in the valley BJP has no existence. In Jammu also it is appreciated only in Hindu districts of Jammu and Udhampur. I think these districts, are following communal politics of BJP and will soon realize it by discarding this communal party.
See the comments below. Just like there were lot of people who supported Nazis, there are lot of people who think BJP and RSS will bring utopia for Indians. Yesteday a court in Kerala found 63 men of that party guility of a massacre of Hindu fishermen that fanned the worst communal violence in Kerala .would please advise Madam to sever ties with this party if you are sincere ?
