"It does worry me. These trends are the outcome of unfortunate things happened in July and August. The question is that secularism is getting shrunk at the cost of development," Azad said, adding that it should be "a worry for each and every Indian."
"The rise of BJP in the border state which is facing terrorism is a worrying factor for the entire country," he said.
"Their only vision is to create communal tension among the people," Azad said. "They are being rejected across the country because of their communalism."
In an apparent reference to the problems faced by Congress in its alliance with PDP, Azad said past experience would be taken into consideration while deciding the alliance partner.
He refused to comment about any alliance possibility saying that it shall be decided at the highest level by Congress chief Sonia Gandhi and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.
When asked about his personal choice, the leader said that he would choose a party whose national and secular credentials are known.
On the Amarnath land row, he said it was never a win-win situation for the Congress.
"If we had withdrawn (the order of land allotment) one region would have erupted and if we had not the other region would have. It is difficult to take a decision keeping all the three regions in mind," Azad, who was the chief minister when the row erupted this year, said.
Echoing the view of Azad, Minister of State in PMO Prithviraj Chavan too blamed the Amarnath land row for the dismal performance of the Congress in the Jammu and Kashmir assembly elections.
He said if land row had not erupted, the party would have swept the polls.
"It (hung assembly) was expected after the Amarnath land row. If land row had not happened, we would have swept the polls," he said.
"There is emotional anger but it does not reflect the reality," he said.

The biggest threat our country is from people like Azad and Ashiq who still cannot digest a nationalist party like BJP gaining ground on good governance,patriotic and positive secularism they porofess and practice.Spineless Congress with eunuch leadership at the top to bottom cannot take even a single decision with out considering vote bank .Through out the history of their 50 yrs plus in ruling this country they have never shown the guts to take a proactive and patriotic decision .Wether it is in Kashmir amarnanth issue,shabanu case or the recent terrorist mayhem in different part of India they have never bothered to keep the countries interest above their vote bank politics.Now it is almost one month since Mumbai attack except for the off and statement by Pranab no concrete decision to pursue the terrorists or destroying their camps across the border is taken till this date.As rightly told by Baltakray Indians rsilence should not be mistaken for its weakness .

Azad is worried, that he will not be able to make the CM ship again, and anti-Indians Ashiq, you are worried that the one million Kashmiri Pandits you thrown out of the valley might come back! Isnt that your worry? Wherever you are majority, you will not like to see others around, and wherever you are minority, you make hue and cry to get all benefits over and above the majority community! Isnt that your strategy? You make hue and cry for benefits under minority community, but at the same time refuse to accept common civil code! Why? You will not be able to fool around with lot of women as you wish? Yes, it is a must that BJP should come back and take the power not only in the states, but at the center as well!

We all should be proud that the rise of a nationalist BJP in Kashmir irrespective of from which are it has won will be a fitting reply to the trouble maker neighbour and perhaps one day might lead t o the party''s rule in the state. Mr. Azad should be worried more about the displaced Hindus rather than the BJP's victory. Why should the rise of any political party by the democratic process of election be a worry to a politician?Yes, BJP used the Amarnath row to win in Jammu, but which political party in this country wins elections only on their performance? The recent survey by a neutral organisation shows poverty is increasing and poor people are starving. Mr. Azad, the continuation of a weak and backboneless Congress that has to survive with help of regional parties is a BIG headache for Indians! Azad's worry has to be taken seriously as growth of BJP (the communal party and creators of all bomb blasts) is a worry. At least the Malegaon probe has brought this into the public. The Amarnath row has given them the chance for growth. The other elections held earlier has given them the all india view of the voters who rejected BJP. Advani has to dream for another century to become the PM.
