Road accidents kill 16 in Rajasthan

Jaipur, October 7: Sixteen people were killed and 40 others injured in three separate road accidents in Rajasthan on Tuesday, police said.

Seven passengers were killed and 13 others wounded in a head-on collision between two buses on national highway 15 near Mayawali village.

The injured were rushed to a government hospital at Sriganganagar, police said adding that the dead bodies have been shifted to the district mortuary.

In the second accident, six people were killed when a truck ran over them on the Jaipur-Chomu highway in the wee hours on Tuesday.

According to the police, the speeding truck after crushing a couple hit some pedestrians killing four of them and injuring 15 others.

The injured have been admitted to the Sawai Man Singh hospital.

The third accident took place in Jalore district, when a truck loaded with cattle and peasants turned turtle and killed three persons and injured 12 others.

Police said that the injured have been admitted to a nearby government hospital in Jalore.
