Noida, January 7 A 21-year-old call centre employee was killed and one injured when their car collided with the divider near Sector-51 in Noida early Monday morning. Meetu Ganwani and Abhay Taneja, both employees of IBM Daksh call centre in Gurgaon, were travelling in a Hyundai Santro (HR51E6827) and met with an accident around 3.30 am, said police. Taneja sustained minor injuries and was interrogated by the police later while Ganwani was declared dead when taken to the Prayag Hospital.

“According to the information that we have gathered, both them had spent the past two days outside the Capital and were driving around in their car for a couple of hours after dinner before the incident took place,” said SP (City) Paresh Pandey.

Travelling at a high speed, their car overturned after hitting the divider and Taneja was thrown out of the vehicle while Gangwani sustained serious injuries as she was crushed under the car. She was pulled out from under the car and taken to the Prayag Hospital in Sector-44 where she was declared dead. Her body has been sent for autopsy and the police refused to comment on the possibility of foul play. “Any such possibility can only be commented upon after the post-mortem report,” Pandey said.

The accident disrupted the traffic. The car was later moved with the help of a crane.

Gangwani, originally from Kanpur, had been staying in Lajpat Nagar, New Delhi, while Taneja is a resident of Defence Colony. Taneja was questioned by the police for nearly four hours before being let off and Gangwani’s parents in Kanpur were informed later in the afternoon.
