The youths, who were allegedly drunk, did not realise where they were because of a power failure in the area, and decided to beat the victim when he stopped his car.

But, just as they jumped out to thrash the victim, power returned, and they found themselves outside the G K-I Police Station.

The couple, Jasjeet Singh Bhandari (36) and his wife Gagan (34), and their six-year-old son were frightened as the accused abused and threatened them while chasing their Chevrolet Optra car. The accused also hit the Optra from behind with their car.

The accused, Arjun Kumar (who was driving), his friends Sanjeev, Raj Kumar and Tabrez, had an argument with Bhandari. Bhandari decided to ignore the incident as his family was with him and moved on.

Colonel (retired) BS Bhandari, Jasjeet’s father, said, “They forced my son to stop and started abusing him and hitting the windowpanes.”

“They also hit his car from behind. My son called the PCR but the police could not reach him. He then drove his car to GK-I Police Station.”

Police said the accused, who were drunk, were arrested and a case of criminal intimidation, outraging the modesty of a woman and wrongful restraint registered against them.

The court has ordered the police to register a case against the complainant also as his car had first hit the other car.
