Robbery in Swaran Shatabdi

Jalandhar, January 11 Travelling in prestigious trains, like Swaran Shatabdi Express, no longer ensures a safe journey.

A couple travelling from Delhi to Jalandhar was robbed of Rs 1 lakh in the train. The couple, who had come back from a Europe tour, have alleged connivance of the Railway Protection Force in the crime.

The victims, Harish Saini and his wife Jeet Saini, alleged that in the afternoon their belongings, including gold, 1,000 Euros, some documents, a handycam, were stolen by an unidentified person near Delhi. The couple alleged that they had informed the RPF, but they didn't take timely action.

Government Railway Police (GRP) SHO Manjit Singh said they would start investigation after receiving a written complaint from the couple. However, sources said senior railway authorities have started investigations.
