New York Robert Pattinson who was hit by a taxi cab while escaping from a horde of female fans here, is now reportedly "terrified" of his American admirers.

The 'Twilight' actor is said to be growing increasingly homesick and wants to return to London after struggling to find an escape from over-zealous female fans while shooting 'Remember Me' in the city, New York Daily News reported

"Robert is dying to get back home. He's so over everything. He's overwhelmed by all the girls, they terrify him. He says girls grab his neck and clothing all of the time, and he's not used to that," a source close to the star said.

"Fans don't do that to him in London. Everyone there is a little cooler about the fame thing, which is what he's used to," the source added.

The British hunk is said to be "embarrassed" by all the attention he receives and his co-stars are worried as the fan frenzy is reportedly taking a toll on his health. "He's so skinny and stressed. Everyone on set is worried about him. Robert doesn't understand why everyone is going so crazy over him. He's embarrassed by the way girls throw themselves at him," the source said.

"The girls here are stalking him. He stayed in two different hotels over the course of four days just to try to escape the fans who were following him. He's afraid that if he gives a hand, they'll take the whole arm," the source added.
