Rodrigues inspected the progress of work in Entrepreneur Development Centre at Rajiv Gandhi Chandigarh Information Technology Park, Medicity site, OPD block in Sector 16, new block at Government Medical College and Hospital, Sector 32, and Nehru Centre for Performing Arts, Sector 34. Setting deadlines for commissioning of all the projects, General Rodrigues told the executive agencies to speed up the construction work to benefit the target groups in need of these facilities. He told the Secretary and Director IT that the Entrepreneur Development Centre, scheduled to be commissioned by the end of December this year, must be equipped with state-of-the-art research facilities and should be able to provide incubation facilities to young IT entrepreneurs.
The Home Secretary, Krishna Mohan, Finance Secretary Sanjay Kumar, Deputy Commissioner R K Rao and some other senior officers of the Engineering and Architecture Department accompanied Rodrigues.
During his visit to the construction site of OPD block in Sector 16 and new block at Government Medical College and Hospital, Sector 32, Rodrigues asked the heads of these institutions to put construction of the facilities on their priority list.
He said that the new block must be equipped with innovative infrastructural components with quality flooring to create a decent ambience for the visitors. He told them to prepare a concept plan of the programme within one month, taking into account the population of the region. He also asked both the heads to put special emphasis on the training of nurses, as part of the plan to empower women.
General Rodrigues also visited the up coming Nehru Centre for Performing Arts which is being constructed on an area of 1.5 acres at a cost of Rs 39.30 crore.
He reviewed the planning process of the Plaza and also the multi-level underground parking at the site.
