One moment you are in a boudoir surrounded by the glitter of satiny sheets and shimmery drapes, which are balanced only by the severe black and steely-grey hues it is bathed in. Throw in emerald-green cushion covers and silver knickknacks and, presto, there is the classic Indian boudoir. Turn your head and you would see a minimalist dining room in woody brown. This is La Sorogeeka. The name doesn’t mean a thing but the firm for high-end interior designs and furniture, has opened its second outlet in Noida.

Spread across 15,000 sq ft, it has everything from designer wall hangings to a 10-legged settee, hand-carved in teak, with the edges in silver zardozi. But you just cannot pick and choose; you have to buy the entire unit, be it the boudoir, the opulent, butter-yellow drawing room or any of the sets themed on Persia, Jamaica, Victorian era, British colonial age, Indian classic, or even romance and verandah. Go and be tempted only if you can afford it. The minimum amount for bookings is Rs 10 lakh. Anjali Goel, CEO of La Sorogeeka, who opened the first store at Okhla in 1998, says, “We are catering to individuals who demand luxury and will not compromise on it. All the designs are manufactured in-house under my supervision and each piece is exclusive.”

Each ensemble comes in three different colours and with options of accessories, but even though you may want a certain pattern, you might not get it. “The final verdict rests with us as to what will look nice or not,” says Goel, as dictatorial as a designer can get.
