Rs 391 crore for rural projects cleared

New Delhi, January 11 The Delhi Rural Development Board under the Chairmanship Development Minister Raj Kumar Chauhan on Thursday approved 527 schemes pertaining to rural areas of various constituencies amounting to Rs 224 crore. He said that the government had also earmarked Rs 167 crore for the development of villages in the year 2007-08 and a total of Rs 391 crore has been sanctioned for rural development works. These schemes include the construction and maintenance of roads, ponds, Khandajas community centre, crematoriums in villages of Delhi. The minister also pointed that the financial clearance for the above schemes will be sanctioned soon.

Chauhan informed that the government has decided to provide basic amenities in villages before the commencement of the Commonwealth Games and it is “for this objective the developmental works are being accelerated”. Reiterating his commitment to the all-round development of villages, Chauhan said that a total of 807 schemes have been sanctioned in the last three years since the reconstitution of Rural Development Board in 2004. Compared to this, only 1,130 schemes have been sanctioned in the current financial year. He said that the sanction of Rs 700 crore for various schemes is an important achievement for the Rural Development Board in this short span.
