Addressing mediapersons, Patiala Mayor Ajit Pal Singh Kohli claimed that 80 per cent of the money would be given by the Central government, 10 per cent would be put in by Punjab government while the rest would be borne by the Corporation.
“The detailed project report is being prepared by the National Consultancy for Planning and Engineering, a Hyderabad-based company. The city would get a facelift and the residents would benefit a lot by the project,” he added after a meeting with his officials.
Meanwhile, showing concern over the presence of illegal mobile towers, Kohli warned that 92 of the total 99 towers came up during the tenure of the previous government while seven had come up recently. “The mobile companies had not sought any proper permission and the Corporation was in the process of sending notices to these companies,” he added.
Kolhi said that for installing towers, the mobile companies were required to pay Rs 15,000 with an additional amount of Rs 5,000 every year for every tower. He said the Corporation had already checked the details of these towers and would now collect the pending fees along with fines.
Kohli added that a drive would be launched in the entire city after the Republic Day to clean all residential and commercial colonies in the city. “We will put in all efforts to clear the garbage from these areas,” he said.
