Rs 90 lakh grant for Biotech department

Patiala, March 7 Punjabi University’s department of Bio-Technology has been granted Rs 90 lakh from the Indian Council of Agricultural Research for a multi-lingual institutional project — Development of Biosensors and Micro-techniques for Analysis of Pesticide Residues, Aflatoxin, Heavy Metals and Bacterial Contamination in Milk.

Neelam Verma, head of the department, said the project has been funded by the World Bank’s Agency - National Agricultural Innovation Project, under the Basic and Strategic Research in the Frontier Areas of Agricultural Sciences extended to the Consortium, comprising BITS, Pilani, National Dairy Research Institute, ICAR, Karnal, IIT, Delhi and Pbi, Patiala.
