The Delhi pacer gave Ryder a piece of his mind after one of his deliveries was hoisted to the stands.
The New Zealand opener responded with another six which triggered another verbal duel forcing umpire Rudi Koertzen to warn Ishant for his on-field misconduct.
"Something was said and I just got a little bit heated. We shook hands and apologised to each other," said the explosive batsman.
Ryder was to rub it in when he brought along his half-century with another big heave off Ishant into the stands but the right-arm pacer had the final laugh, when he castled the Kiwi batsman off an inside edge.
But that didn't stop Ryder from emerging New Zealand's top-scorer (63) and said his game was similar to that of Virender Sehwag.
"I would love to say that we both play similar cricket. But I think he's a bit more destructive than I am. I have just got back into form and am trying to under-hit the ball most of the time.”
"I am trying to spend a bit of time in the middle and it is working for me. I'm in form and just doing well at the moment."
He was glad to have done well with the ball, picking up three Indian wickets for 29 runs in his nine overs.
"I just knew my job. It was to hit a length. The pitch offered a bit of help and that was good for me." The opener also praised the Indian bowling attack, terming it as world class.
"It is a world class attack. They have come off series wins against Aussie and England and they can't be that bad," he said.

This is a trick the bowlers use to distract the batsmen. Everybody does this. Allan Donald has done this to Dravid. What's wrong in it. Over doing like Sreeshant is ugly.
just like the door was shown to sreesanth, its now time to show the door to ishant sharma as well, as he is nothing more than a over rated and over hyped bowler, more a creation of media than any credible ability to warrant a permanent place in the team. he is not worth any of the accolades we shower on him and neither he has much variety to offer as a strike bowler but being in dhoni's inner circle he continues to be a part of the team in every form of the game. to add further insult to injury, his on field behavior is matching that of sreesanth, his theatrics are now unbearable and just like sreesanth he too should be packed off and sent to participate in many reality shows on television these days. india has many able and capable bowlers to fall bck on, there is no shortage of budding talent waiting in the wings..its simply a matter for our selectors making some crucial decisions and giving chances to those who deserve it for the betterment of indian cricket.
What fiery? he is being hit all over the park by Kiwi batsmen with disdain and you call him fiery bowler. I think Ishant Sharma is the most over rated Indian bowler. He played four matches in NZ and here is his performance.Ist T-20: 4 overs 35 runs 1 wicketIInd T-20: 2 overs 19 runs NO wicket had to be removed from bowling.Hamilton ODI: 8 overs 57 runs 2 wickets with 3 no balls and 1 wide.Auckland ODI: 7.2 overs 63 runs 1 wicket. Is this reads like fiery bowler? He is the biggest let down of all the bowlers. Praveen kumar has done better in this ODI series than Ishant and Praveen was not even included in T-20 matches. It is high time Ishant should improve or drop him.
who said his bowling was fiery, only his onfield behavior was fiery.Sreenath said that Zahir and Ishant are the best strike bowling pair. Zahir seems to be doing good, but if you watch his tummy after Chappel left, it is becoming bigger than mine. So soone he will be a let down too. Fitness problems. If Ishant is not controlled or good feed back given to him then he will have a economy rate of 10 soon. I feel this team is running on luck, look at the number of catches that were dropped, if each was taken then it would be different story. Except Raina and Dhoni no one else got the desire to stay and play responsibily. I am not sure as to why it is being touted as the best team ever, the best team mates are still not in the team.
