New Delhi, February 19 As the Supreme Court on Tuesday directed the management Appu Ghar to hand over the possession of land to the DMRC within two months, it also asked the Central government to allocate an alternative site at market price for the amusement park if possible.

A bench headed by Justice Arijit Pasayat asked the Delhi Development Authority and the Land and Development Office to furnish their response through an affidavit detailing if they were ready to allocate another site for Appu Ghar.

The bench, which also included P Sathasivam and Justice Aftab Alam, ordered the affidavits are to be filed by March 27.

The court’s directive came after senior advocate Arun Jaitley appearing for Appu Ghar’s counsel apprised the court that the firm, while running the children amusement park for last 25 years, has made huge investment in it.

Jaitley contended that his client has the required documents to show that it was the permanent allottee of the land by International Trade Promotion Organisation. However, it is ready to shift out from Pragati Maidan to serve the larger public interest as the land is required by the apex court also for the construction of its administrative block, he added. The senior lawyer informed the court that the DDA had earlier indicated that it was not averse to allocating alternative site to the amusement park at market price. Following which, the bench sought a response from the government.
