SIFT students put up colourful annual show, Avant Garde

Ludhiana, February 2 The second annual function of Sportking Institute of Fashion Technology (SIFT), ‘Avant Garde’, was held today at Guru Nanak Bhawan.

The students showcased their talent in various activities. Dr Surabhi Mahajan spoke about the achievements of the students.

The function started with a dance item, which took the audience on a tour of filmy disco which started in the 70s and peaked in the 90s. The one-act play provided a hilarious peek into the lives of three bachelor brothers. The hip hop show enthralled the audience, and made them aware of new trends in music and dance. The show was much appreciated by the audience.

PAU Vice Chancellor Dr Manjit Singh Kang lauded the enthusiasm of the participants. He congratulated the faculty and the management for providing quality education to the students. He applauded the efforts and vision of the school’s founders, who provided the northern states a fashion institute with such an infrastructure. He gave prizes to the meritorious students.

Anjali Avasthi, president, SIFT, acknowledged the contribution of Rasti Verma for making the event a success. She also thanked the director of the play Nirmal Rishi, Kuldeep, the choreographer Laddi and the make up artists from the Apsara Beauty Salon and VLCC.

Sunil Puri, Executive Director, congratulated the faculty and the students for their strenuous efforts to make the function a great success. He praised the students for their scintillating performances.

In the end, the students performed bhangra and set the audience tapping their feet.
