New Delhi, October 12: Terming SIMI and Bajrang Dal as dangerous, National Security Advisor M K Narayanan has said they are not two sides of the same coin.

The NSA said there was a need to effectively deal with organisations like SIMI and Bajrang Dal "because then there are many copycat organisations ... several micro units of the same kind may come up."

He claimed "SIMI and Bajrang Dal are not two sides of the same coin, but both of them are dangerous."

The former IB chief said more number of Bajrang Dal activists should be arrested "based on the information we have you can ban it but you will then not be able to sustain it," he told NDTV.

He said as was the case with SIMI, "the evidences collected on procedural matters that got up with Supreme Court ... you may get a vicarious pleasure of banned or not banned. What you need is to prevent them from acting and I think that is what needs to be done," he said.

Narayanan said he was a firm believer that militant outfits "under whatever dispensation they are, should be banned."

He said though the actions of Bajrang Dal are militant, "the problem around Bajrang Dal is that it really does not exist as an organisation."

Narayanan suggested building up evidence to control such organisations.

Question, Confuse, Convince.... by Common Man on 14 Oct 2008

Brahmin guy traveling with Goat on is shoulder, first was questioned why are you carrying a Dog. Then he was confused by repeating the same question again and then was convinced with several repeatations. Example is narrated to equate the situation in India. Secularists argue with a question, why are you banning Simi and not Bajarang dal/VHP. Next...they will try and confuse people by saying Bajarang Dal is a bigger enemy then Terrorists. Then they will try and convince you that Bajarang Dal and VHP are real threats, Terrorists are just misguided youth........ r u convinced?

ERRONEOUS COMPARISON by shaik mahaboob on 13 Oct 2008

It is unfair to evaluate Bajrang Dal with SIMI. SIMI has been previously confirmed by the Union Government as Terrorist Organisation as per Section 2(i) and (m) and Section 35 of the Unlawful activities (Prevention) Amendment Ordinance 2004. Bajrang Dal is a socio cultural outfit engaged in safeguarding the legitimate rights of Hindus and the SIMI is the hardcore extremist terrorist group which is occupied in deadly terrorist activities like innocent Killing, sabotage, and suicide bombing and the sole Motive of the SIMI is to destabilize India by creating hatred among the Hindus and Minorities. If we date back to the History and chronological events in India, there is no indication or any other tangible material to hold the involvement of Bajrang Dal in the terrorist activities. Therefore, it is totally wrong to compare such a branded extremist group with the Bajrang Dal and admittedly the name of the Bajrang Dal does not figure as Terrorist Organisation.

" JAI HINDH "

UPA vs Bajrand dal by Manoj on 13 Oct 2008

All UPA parties demand that bajrangdal should be banned. But first Congress should be banned because their Ex-minister from Surat has been sentenced to 20 years imprisonment for planting serial bombs in Surat in 1992. Secondly NCP should be banned because the NCP corporator named Javed Shaikh has connections with terrorist which recently has been arrested in pune. Don't forget has been elected as a NCP corporator unanimously. No one Stood against him in the elections as per his crimnal record. He is corporator in Pimpri Chichwad. He is having strong support from Sharad pawar. Thirdy Samajwadi party should be banned as their open support to Simi and Indian Mujahideen. All UPA political party should be banned beacuse of their support to Afzal guru a accused in parliament attack.

SIMI's comparison with BajrangDal by ramesh kumar on 13 Oct 2008

What is now so dangerously obvious that somebody like Mr. Narayanan occupying one of the most sensitive position in the country is extremely harmful to nation. A person who can speak like an agent of a terrorist organization, that if SIMI is banned, then let Bajrangdal also be banned. Only a SIMI or another terrorist organization can speak like this. Mr. Narayanan, you should immediately quit the post and join SIMI or any other terrorist organization and then talk the way you are now talking. Or, are you paid by the terrorist organizations?

SIMI/ BAJRANG by G. K. GHOSH on 13 Oct 2008

THEY ARE BYE PRODUCT OF RELIGION AND VESTED INTEREST. THEY WILL CONTINUE TO STAY SO LONG AS THEY ARE UTILISED BY POLITICAL SYSTEM...

SIMI and Bajrangdal by rajmohan k on 13 Oct 2008

Mr. Narayanan it is so ridiculous and outrageous that you could compare SIMI with BajrangDal! SIMI is an anti-national organization where as BajrangDal is a patriotic organization fighting against the terrorists in the country. How ignorant you are Mr. Narayanan! One could easily think that you have been now put under the paryroll of SIMI!

SIMI by Gary McKenzie on 13 Oct 2008

Patriotic (idiotic) organization killing innocents does not equate to fighting terrorists. If they want to fight terrorists, they should go to Afganisthan.

We do have terrorist in India by Common Man on 14 Oct 2008

Well, I dont think one neds to go to Afghanistnan to find terrorists. India has enough of them. Lalu, Mulayam, Shivraj Patil are all either terrorist themselves of supporters of terrorists....

NAS Chief Narayanan's observation by rajiv rangan on 13 Oct 2008

NSA chief Narayanan is trying to be the 'advocate' of SI MI and other terrorist organization in India. He tried to be too ignorant to the fact that SIMI is working against the country and its people while BajrangDal is working against the SIMI terrorists working against the country and its people! India's most dangerous probolem is this kind of pseudo-secular champions like NSA chief Narayanan. So shameful for somebody like you Narayanan having made such a statement. If he is not happy with the system in Hindustan, he should immediately consider applying for Pakistan or Bangladesh immigration.

Dangerous groups should not exist in India by Johney on 13 Oct 2008

There are people who lead these organisation. Catch them and punish them. Anyway, it is good that somebody is understanding that these kind of groups are dangerous for India and something should be done to control them from making violence in India. Communal violence is the most dangerous one in India. Once they start it in some place, it will automatically spread all over. India authorities should be very careful in dealing with those groups. At least MKN is aware of some facts. Thanks.

Ban Bajrangdal! by R.Balasundaram on 13 Oct 2008

I fully agree with NSA that all militant outfits are dangerous; but how can NSA equate both? One is anti-national but Dal's patriotism has never been in doubt. If pakistan were to attack us SIMI will side Pakistan but the Dal willnot lag behind in defending India!

SIMI and BDal by Kuriakose on 13 Oct 2008

SIMI and BDal have goals that any Indian with average common sence would denounce and disown because his blood is entched by the Indian culture. There should be a peace movement for brotherhood of all Indians based on secularism and equality of all religions, communities and people that would attract and appeal to the young Indians. There should another Gandhi Era to eradicate religious fundametalism

Congress: A secular militant organization by Dr.G.S.Shankar on 13 Oct 2008

If Narayanan feels that way, I would say he is either ignorant or secular militant. SIMI's protocol says it would destroy the Hindu nature of India and establish an Islamic state with more than 80 percent people bieng Hindu in India.where s Bajrang dal is fighting supportors of terrorism and Merchants of faith with their aggressive teachniques to convert India for Christinity and Bajrang dal is fighting for justice from two ends one from Islamic Jihadist agenda and second Christian religious imperialistic agenda. Minorities of course do not like Bajrang dal. because they want to destroy the Hindu Fabric and dominant culture of India and Bajrand dal and Shiv Sena are coming in their way. If Naryanan feels that way, may be its is about time for him to immigrate to Vatican or Mecca but Congress secular militacy to destroy Hinduism will be faught at every street conrner for next thousand years

Who is better leader by bhyrojois on 13 Oct 2008

SIMI and Bajrang Dal are dangerous:NSA by M.V.Muthu on 13 Oct 2008

In a way, the assessment of NSA seems as the activities of lead to tragedies like killings, cause injuries, damage (public) properties, instill fear and disrupt normal life. But, are the agenda and goals of the two outfits similar, if not the same. Atleast, the general perception and beliefs are the, while BD might at best be anti-secular SIMI invariably gives an inference that it could be anti-national. The remedies in controlling the undesirable effects they inflict may not lie in a common action of merely banning them as the the cause of anti-nationalism and anti-secularism will have to be addressed and dealt with differently.

simi/bagrangdal by V. Ramanathan on 13 Oct 2008

SIMI is a communal organisation born and breought up by the vote bank politics of congress and other so called secular parties; when time comes for banning it, UPA puts the red hering of Bagrang dal: how sad! the UPA isin power because it has majoprity cupport that is democracy: but under them the majorityt community has no voice in national matters. this has been the bane of Indian secularism. the BJP should come forth and declare that it is for equal rights to all communities and it stands for India that is Bharath and for those who believe in sanathana dharma; but even they play partisan minority vote bank politics.

NSA on Terror by Dr. Valson Thampu on 13 Oct 2008

The NSA's stand sends out an unfortunate and dangerous signal, however unwitting it may be. In effect it amounts to the suggestion that terrorist outfits only have to ensure that they cover their organizational trail.. Do what you like. But makes sure you leave no footprints. While his idea that acts of terror need to be engaged and countered effectively is welcome, he still needs to answer, as the NSA, why the death-dance of terror targeting Christians in Orissa and adjoining states continue even after 7 weeks of its commencement. The victims of terror do not need brave words, they expect effective steps. When life and limbs of citizens are at risk, the State must stop counting electoral gains and losses and stand by the Constitution. Forcing thousands of citizens to live in in sub-human relief (read, refugee )campus and abandoning them to progressive human degrdation is a silent atrocity to which the State is party. It is inexcusable.

Dont vote for BJP by Saccha Gujarati on 13 Oct 2008

yes, you cannot dare to ban bajrang dal, otherwise they will again start killing innocents. whatelse you can expect from such goons. Only one way out, just give shoot at site orders in orrisa like Congress did in ASSAM and Andra. if you will protect such criminals, you are encouraging to do so. BJP should not come to centre, otherwise, you will find civil war in India for sure, they are shame of name of religion. They only divide people in the name of religion. See babri masjid demolition, Gujarat roits, Khandamal killings, all are blots given to india by BJP. The terrorist activist are also done because of BJP atrocities and injustice done during their tenure. I request all sane people, not to vote for BJP, we have to save our country and only secular behaviour will save us and keep everybody tied, not communalism that will only spread hatred. See even in mumbai, UDhave is claiming mumbai as his father property. how can he say that, we have to show him, mumbai belongs to whom

bravo, Sachha Gujarati. Keep it up by real bharatiya on 13 Oct 2008

Sachha Gujarati,I am real bharatiya

NSA or a National Joke?!! by Rajan on 13 Oct 2008

This NSA is a joker! He keeps giving press interviews and pontificates on matters in TV studios when he should be doing work to prevent terror. He is now morphing into a politician by giving politically loaded statements to the press when he should be talking less and workign more silently and let the country judge his effectiveness by his work track record. For the record he not been able to contribute anything to control or prevent terror. I can see him having a bright political future in India where a person who is a toal failure commands exalted heights in political parties!! Best of luck Narayanan!!
