"I would like to tell Digvijay Singh that Manyata is the daughter-in-law of the late Sunil Dutt and Nargis Dutt.
She is the wife of actor Sanjay Dutt," SP leader Amar Singh said.
Congress general secretary Digvijay Singh had reportedly feigned ignorance on Manyata's identity, asking "who is Manyata?". On being told about her identity, he is said to have commented, "...oh Sanjay Dutt's wife!" "I have never said who is Lakshman Singh? ... Oh Digvijay Singh's brother who is in BJP! I have never said who is Sanjay Nirupam? ... Oh the former Shiv Sena leader who had abused Sunil Dutt and the late actor had filed a defamation case against him. The same Nirupam is now a Congress leader.
If I start retorting like Digvijay Singh, then it would cause a lot of pain to him," Amr Singh said.
"For us Sanjay Dutt is the first and only candidate who can contest from Lucknow, but in case he is not allowed to do so, then we would ask Manyata (his wife) to contest from there," the SP leader told reporters.
He said that Digvijay should not criticise anybody from the Dutt family.
Singh said that Sanjay Dutt would accompany him to Lucknow on January 17. "She (Manyata) would still be representing her husband Sanjay Dutt and the streets of Lucknow will echo with the slogans of 'Lagey Raho Munnabhai'," the SP leader said.

What makes Manyata eligible to stand election as an MP? What qualifications does she have and what has she achieved? I am sick of seeing celebrities constantly fielded and elected to office. If we elect unqualified people to office, it is our own fault. It is time we stop treating Bollywood actors and actresses as gods. There are numerous capable people with education and training who will do a better job of running the government and serving the people.
It seems Mr. Amar Singh is inclined to increase criminalisation of politics. Was not the actor Sanjay Dutt convicted for possession of guns or some such activity connected with 1993 Mumbai blasts conspiracy ? We too love Nargis and we also rate Sanjay as an unworthy son of hers. As Mr. Amar Singh invokes Nargis and Sunil for her son, we invoke Sanjay for Manyata. Love me, love my dog ?It is my suspicion that UP politics is getting murkier by the day for the presence of parties like SP, BSP and sundry others. Getting elected is not all. There ought to be some commonly understood moral stature to leaders. Perhaps it is time for the parliament and the Election Commission to derecognise such parties who revile citizens of this country for the very uniqueness of the Sanatan Dharma which is acclaimed by all the civilised and informed world.
Why is Amar Singh himself not contesting from Lucknow??

SO, NOT ONLY DIGVIJAY SINGH; BUT MILLIONS ARE ASKING, WHO IS MANYATA? WHEN HAS AMAR SINGH DEVELOPED THIS LOVE FOR SANJAY DUTT? AMAR SINGH, WHY DONT YOU NOMINATE AFZAL GURU TOO FROM NEW DELHI, FROM THE CONSTITUENCY WHERE PARLIAMENT HOUSE STANDS?

What happens when he divorces her for Biwi No. 4 / Girlfriend No. Unlimited? Will Amar Singh / Mulayam divorce her too? I think the electorate and the EC may well demand this clarification! Time to say No to frivolous mockery of democracy by cynical politicians. Also, like Govinda, the Sonia-pick -- who has returned to Bollywood as first priority, going AWOL from his constituency despite the Mumbai train blasts and sundry crises -- bar all current actors as candidates!
Congress tried to rope him in from the day he was released. Right from the day of Judgement all Congress leaders were pleading for his Bail and aquitance. . Priya Dutt visited Sonia the next day - what does this infer - Congress supports terrorism and keen only on vote bank It is unfortunate that the Maharashtra CM prevented police to take action against him thus demoralising our disciplined uniformed force. Also, the open backing and sympathy for Sanjay Dutt of Union Minister Das Munshi and State Minister Baba Sidduqui is unfortunate.

Digvijay sinngh is right. Sanjay has married so many times you lose track of his wife. Can some one please shut up this fool Amar singh. He looks like prostituting for cine star. He has Abitabh in his pocket and now Sanjay. SP is no out of touch part with no agenda it can only win with cine stars. Two Jaya are already there now Sanjay. Hemant.
