New Delhi, July 9: BJP on Wednesday alleged Samajwadi Party of ‘misusing’ former President Abdul Kalam's name and reputation for political opportunism.

"It is unfortunate and admonishable that Samajwadi Party and its managers have chosen to misuse former President Abdul Kalam's name and his undoubtable credentials and national service to their political benefits," BJP vice-president Muqtar Abbas Naqvi said in New Delhi on Wednesday.

The country is enraged over this act of political convenience and opportunism, he added.

The saffron party demanded that the Samjwadi Party should spell out clear what advice did Kalam give to them which ‘changed’ their anti-American stand to a pro-American one.

"The SP leadership should spell out in public the advice given to them by Kalam point by point. They should explain why did they make a mockery of a respectable personality when they had already made a private deal with the Congress to support the government," he added.

He alleged the Samajwadi Party of ‘deceiving’ the Muslim community of the country and as they have not forgotten ‘the acts of terror’ of America against the Muslims of the world.

"The acts of terror of America against the Muslims are still fresh in Mind. It is hard for any faithful to forget. Samajwadi Party by supporting the deal has betrayed the whole community," he said.
