New Delhi With a new political alignment taking shape in UP following BJP leader Kalyan Singh quitting the party and deciding to campaign for the SP, an unperturbed Congress on Wednesday said that the matter was between the SP and the former UP Chief Minister and the party had nothing to do with it.

"It is between the Samajwadi Party and Kalyan Singh. Friendly relations of SP with someone else is their (SP) concern. We have nothing to do with it..." party spokesperson Jayanthi Natrajan told reporters in New Delhi.

To a volley of questions whether the Congress would feel "uncomfortable" in an alliance with SP in which the former BJP leader was a part, Natrajan said, "the alliance with SP will be as per our ideals... the High command will take a decision".

Asked whether the tie-up with SP is still on as Kalyan Singh was the Chief Minister of UP when the Babri Masjid was demolished on December 6, 1992, the spokesperson said, "Nobody's political past or future is being discussed here. He was the CM when Babri Masjid was demolished. This is a fact".

To a query whether the Congress would campaign for Kalyan Singh, Natrajan said, "I will not answer a hypothetical question".

While the former BJP leader has announced that he will campaign for the party, his son Rajbir Singh formally joined the Mulayam Singh Yadav-led party ahead of the general elections in the politically crucial state of UP which sends 80 members to the Lok Sabha.

Natrajan said that the party wanted to win as many seats as possible in UP and side stepped more queries on the impact of the new political alignment in UP on Congress.

No more air force flown chicken curry. by Nautankee on 22 Jan 2009

Leaders like Kalayan Singh are aware of the fact, that no one would even sit in same room as them, because of their apartheid like politics. The entire BJP is shaken and their leaders are also aware of the facts that they will not be allowed to vist foreign countries and no respected leader from the international community will even sit on the same table.Because of these reasons the followers of "SECULAR JINAH" are abandoning the sinking ship.

I appreciate your loyalty to the pay masters! by A Nauntakee fan on 22 Jan 2009

I am really amazed by the time you spend in bashing BJP with or without any reason! I am just wondering how much money you make for doing this act? Is it Congress, communists, Jihadis or Missionaries who pay you? No sane person will write all the crap you do everyday!

"Villains" becoming "Saints" by (Dr.) B.N.Anand on 22 Jan 2009

The latest movement of the political leaders from one party to another is quite anguishing scenario in Indian politics when the country is nearing the general elections. As long as Shankar Singh Vaghela, Narain Rane, Kalyan Singh were part of the saffron brigade, they were untouchables and were the focus of scorn from all the "Secular" outfits. But the day they leave Shiv Sena or BJP, the so called villains turn saints and all become "Secular" overnight. That is how the so called "accused" become free from all the crimes of demolition of Babri masjid. This is a sort of politics which has confused the middle class people of the country. Moreover, these leaders do not compaign among the middle class people. They always depend upon lower middle class or the slum dwellers for their votes. But with the economic upturns, the times are changing and hopefully, every one in the flat world of education and economy in the country will understand the gimmicks of these unprincipled politicians.

Kalyan Singh and Smajwadi Party by Varinder on 22 Jan 2009

Kalyan Singh's joining hands with SP will prve a fatal move. Muslims will not tolerate Kalyan Singh helping SP whose hands are drenched in the demolition of Baberi Mosque. If the minority vote bank of SP goes with the party then it will clearly establish that their love for SP is more than Baberi Masjid.

every thing is fair in politics now a days by usman on 07 Feb 2009

it will deopend on comimg election that muslim prefers samajwadi than babri masjid.it is dilemma in our country that parties keep changing not politicians.
