Amritsar, September 02 Excitement gripped the city residents, who were pleasantly surprised when film star Shah Rukh Khan arrived here last evening for the shooting of ‘Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi’, a Yashraj film.

Fans in multitudes gathered around the hotel where he was scheduled to stay. However, in an attempt to avoid being mobbed by fans, Khan made a backdoor entry in a filmy style.

Yash Chopra, director of the movie, has also been camping in the city for the past couple of days. Khan, who was later approached with requests of autographs, obliged his fans and got pictures clicked.

He shot a scene at the Golden Temple early this morning and another later in the evening. The shrine was flooded with devotees and movie buffs, who had been waiting there since wee hours to have a glimpse of King Khan.

Their wait was finally rewarded when Khan, sporting a moustache and attired in a white shirt and black trousers arrived in a white Mercedes. He later also paid obeisance at the shrine.

“I still find it hard to believe that I have seen Shah Rukh Khan in person,” said Simran, a college student, who had gone to see the shooting of the movie.

However, Rani Mukherji fans were not as lucky. As the word spread that Rani would arrive in the city by afternoon, fans began to pour in the hotel. The fans were left disappointed as Rani did not turn up. There was speculation that Rani might reach tomorrow, while other stars, including Anupam Kher and Rakhi Sawant, too were expected to come for shooting.
