He also conceded that the alliance at the district level had developed some cracks.
Lambasting the CPM-led state government for the lack of development in the state, especially in rural areas, he said both Congress and the BJP should be kept away from any grand alliance.
“We are putting up a strong united front against the CPM in this panchayat election. But it is true that though we had an alliance at the state level, but at some pockets in the districts, things did not work out as planned. We have withdrawn from many seats for the sake of the alliance,” said Ghosh.
Ghosh said his party has fielded candidates for 63 seats in Zilla Parishads, 427 seats in Panchayat Samitis and 1,775 seats in Gram Panchayats.
