Seeking removal of Kerala Chief Minister V S Achutanadan for his remark on the family of slain NSG commando Sandip Unnikrishnan, Railway Minister Lalu Prasad said he would ask the CPM leadership to show the door to the communist veteran.
"It is a very serious issue. What the CM has said is absolutely wrong and a great insult to our martyr. I would demand from the CPM Politburo to remove him," Prasad told reporters in New Delhi.
Criticising the CM's remark, Prasad said, "We are also in politics and at times people do not behave properly with us while venting out their anger. But we are in public life and we have to understand the sentiment. The martyr's father was in the state of shock and this should have been understood by the chief minister."
Karat says sorry for 'dog' remark
Responding to Kerala Chief Minister V S Achuthanandan’s remarks on late NSG commando Major Sandeep Unnikrishnan’s family, CPM General Secretary Prakash Karat has clarified that the CM’s comments were regrettable. The CPM boss also added that he had spoken to Chief Minister Achuthanandan on the issue. TV channels reported.
Earlier Achuthanandan refused to apologise for his controversial remark against the family of the slain NSG commando after his unpleasant visit to the latter's house two days back.
On being asked by the media whether he would apologise for his remark, the Chief Minister said, "No, no" before leaving for Hyderabad.
COMRADE'S TRIBUTE: A DOG WON’T VISIT YOUR HOME
Express News Service
The Kerala Government hurt the sentiments of the family of Major Sandeep Unnikrishnan by not sending its representative for the funeral of the Malayali NSG commando who died battling terrorists in Mumbai. Its Chief Minister today added insult to that injury when he said, “Even a dog would not have glanced at that house had it not been Sandeep’s residence.”
Sandeep’s father Unnikrishnan had snubbed Chief Minister V S Achuthanandan and Home Minister Kodiyeri Balakrishnan when they came to his house on Sunday after he repeatedly declined to see them. Sandeep’s father Unnikrishnan was upset that none of the Kerala ministers called or visited to offer condolence while their counterparts in Karnataka did.
So the commando’s father asked them to go back. “I have lost all respect for you, VS,” he said. Later, he clarified that the politicians arrived after he repeatedly said no and admitted that he “responded badly.”
Talking to Times Now, Achuthanandan said: “I have respect for Sandeep, his mother and father. If it had not been Sandeep’s residence, not even a dog would have glanced at the house,” he told the channel. “I did not expect such a reception.” There is widespread outrage among politicians of all shades over the Chief Minister’s comments. BJP state president P K Krishnadas said Achuthandanan has become a disgrace for the state. “VS inflicted wounds on that bereaved family. He should quit the post,” he said. “When People’s Democratic Party leader Abdul Nasser Madani was acquitted in the Coimbatore serial blast case, three ministers of the Left Government turned up for the reception in Thiruvanananthapuram. The CPM has proved that the party would honour anti-nationals and insult those who have sacrificed their lives for the nation.”
Senior Congress leader Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan said Achuthanandan’s comment is aimed at killing the NSG hero again. “While the entire country is saluting Sandeep’s supreme sacrifice, his home state is insulting him,” he said. A CPI MP from Kerala, who preferred anonymity, said Achuthanandan’s comment on Sandeep’s family was unwarranted. “He has raked up a controversy unnecessarily. It has really embarrassed all of us,” he said.
Opposition leader Oommen Chandy said: “Every Keralite, every Indian, should take pride in his sacrifice. He had embraced death for the nation. Post-death, he should not have been drawn into an unnecessary controversy.”

The incident is regrettable. A sorrowing father, a befuddled politician shocked by his behaviour, said things that they regret afterwards. We can be shocked and angry at that time, but there is no need to pass moral judgement. Both of them are people with a much higher standard of morality than the critics who keep on selling Sandeep's dead body over and again. It is time we forgot and forgave and moved forward. And stopped this trade in spurious patriotism. Shavamtheenikal!
I just watched the video on youtube. After asking the camera to roll, Sandeep's father is setting out to abuse and discredit chief minister and another minister (looked like he lost his mind for some time). Deciding he doesn't want to see any polititian is Sandeep's father's call. But he doesn't have to say "he doesn't want to see any dog". What response was he expecting from the Kerala CM? I think Kerala CM responded in a tit for tat manner, stating "no dog would have come to his house if it wasn't for the slain major". I respect and honor Major Sandeep's action and his sacrifice. I am proud of our commandos who risked their lives to rescue poeople and kill all the terrorists. And my thoughts are with the families of victims, slain policemen, commandos and other security personnel. But that deosn't mean that Sandeep's father gets the right to abuse somebody for no reason, particularly when he is a person holding a high office.
For all things there is certainly a limit. And those Kerala politicos crossed it this time. Mr. Unnikrishnan's reply was more than justified. And he exposed the politicos' hypocrisy.
LALU YADAV SHOULD BE SACKED AND BARRED FOR ELECTIONS FOR SIX YEARS AS HE HAS A PARTY OF MUSCLEMEN AND PEOPLE LIKE PAPPU YADAV WHO IS LANGUSING IN TIHAR JAIL A CONVICTED MURDERER WHO IS HE TO TELL OTHERS HE SHOULD TALK ABOUT HIS F ` RJD PARTY AND HE HAS NO RIGHT TO POKE HIS NOSE IN OTHER AFFAIRS.
FIRE THIS STUPID CM ----------- HE IS HIMSELF A DOG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
most of the participants including this sanjeev made disparaging remarks against kerala cm without ascertaining the facts. the soldier's father did not behave like a soldier's father. he played the role of a politician. he was angry with keral cm for not visiting early as karnataka cm did. why did he allow karnataka chief minister whose party attributed motives to ATS of maharashtra which pointed the needle of suspicion towards hindu terrorists sponsored by BJP AND RSS?
VS is the senior most comrade in the so called policy making body, Polit Beuro of CPM. At this age of 85 also he talks so much rubbish and filth. They were trying to find out what is wrong with BJP and then about America. 3 of his ministers were at the air port when Madani was released from Jail arranged by Mooka in some clandestine deal exonerating him from Coimbatore bomb blasts to finish Advani few years back. They even arranged aurvedic treatment for him while in jail.Major Unnikrishnan is an iconic figure for a Malayali and instead of that this CM even now saying there was some American imperialist program and media had shown him in bad light. The conspiracy angle is written and rewritten in their mouth piece papers today also.God only knoww when HIS country gets a sensible CM.
And we elect them.not only sacking is enough, but severally to be punished,as he had ashamed the Great Indian in the world by such comments.he is more sinsible case in front of India then terrorism
Question from media: How do you respond to the remarks by slain major. Sandeep Unnikrishnan's father ("Get out my house, you dogs")?And, the CM responded: "We all love Sandeep Unnikrishnan and that is the reason why we went to his house to meet his family. If it had not been Sundeeps house, no dog would have gone there"This was the exact response from the Kerala CM and the media, "TimesNOW" had taken out the quote out of context and sensationalized it. It is high time we should keep a control on such immoral journalists.
POLITICAL LEADERS SHOULD DIVERT THEIR CONCENTRATION TO VALUABLE (NOT CHEAP) AND SERIOUS MATTERS, WHERE ATTENTION NEED SERIOUSLY.THEY ARE NOW STARTED HURTING A SOLDIER'S FAMILY THROUGH THIS UNNECESSARY CONCEQUENCES STARTED FROM AN ANSWER TO A QUESTION.WHILE THE PEOPLES SAFETY AND THEIR LIFE IS IN DIFFICULTY, THE LEADERS USING SUCH CHEAP INCIDETS AS POLITICAL WEAPON AGAINST THEIR OPPONENT, THIS SHOULD SERIOUSLY CRITICISED. WE, CITIZENS REALLY FED UP.MEDIA, PLEASE HELP.
That's what they do to national heroes. Once they had called Netaji Subhash Chander a dog of the russians. I hope you narrow minded commies burn in hell.
Look at the shamelessness of the communists! The Kerala CM is still in office. His remarks against the Hero of heroes Major Unnikrishnan were third rate. His apology does not carry any weight. He should be dismissed immediately and a case of treason be filed against him. He dared to humiliate somebody who laid down his life protecting us. Billions of thanks to you Major Unnikrishnan and all others who fought on our behalf and did not make it. I salute you from the bottom of my aching heart.
V.S.A SHOULD BE ASHAMED OF HIMSELF AND HE HAS BROUGHT DISCREDIT TO CPM.LET VSA APOLOGISE PUBLICLY AND GO BACK PERSONALLY TO MARTYRE UNNIKRISHAN S HOUSE.THIS IS THE WAY HE CAN REDEEM HIS IMAGE AND PEOPLE CAN FORGET THIS SAD INCIDENT
It appears that the Marixsts have a great love for the DOG.There was one Yechury who said that their Bite is enough and now this jhonnies DOGGY Wag.Why not call Communist Party,DOG?
PM or people are weak who elected this govt. Of course all cabinet people are puppets and Sonia has the leashes around there necks. By the way where is she at the time like this???
The kerala govt. should have taken due pride in saluting a martyr like major Sandip. Mr. Unni krishnan was upset that none of the Kerala ministers called or visited to offer condolence while their counterparts in Karnataka did. If the CM did not have time to visit he could have expressed condolence and conveyed tributes. When snubbed by a justifiably cut up father, the CM revealed how unseasoned he is. His added insulting remark shows him in poor light. One should remember “no dog is going to turn at any celeb’s residence unless he has/ had been one. The remark is most regrettable. He will be remembered for his recalcitrance and haughtiness.
What Reason behind??? Cm's security came with sniffer dogs and they searched whole house of Major???? Why? Was there any threat to his life? No… no… HE IS THE THREAT TO THE COUNTRY. All security personal should work to protect the country not HIM. Then this attack would not have happened.
All left parties, Lallu Party, Mulayam Parties will support the antinational elements and they may say that the killing of terrorists at Mumbai also a stage managed. Tamilnadu CM also has not issued any message of condolance of innocent people at Mumbai by the muslim terrorists. If one muslim/christian is attacked he would have condemned the incident with pouring venom.
Making dog remarks, Kerala CM has proved that he is an evil, and already entered into hell!
It takes person to make a house... houses make villages, villages make states… KERALA CM does not care about person. Now you know he does not care about villages, states, the whole country. He should be deported to no man land zone!
Its heart breaking to hear the so called POLITICIANS ,most of them USELESS, who call the people who elected them to power 'dogs',Im sure it will be out of threats, from the present Kerala Govt, that Late Major Unnikrishnans father had to apologise for behaving badly? That shows, how scared the Indians are to live in their own country
CPM General Secretary, The CPM boss apologized, but KERALA CM. Even they did, it is Too little too late to apologies. That is why they say SHABDA TOL BADME BOL!
Kerala CM shud not apologise for this. How can a person call a CM dog? Mr unnikrishanan called kerala CM dog and misbehaved with him. Mr unnikrishanan opposed when his son Sandeep wanted to join army. Now Do u think mr unnikrishanan is patriotic? Also now if someone comes to ur house, even if he is ur enemy, for whatever reason, will u misbehave with him?
The CM should be sensitive to the people's emotions and feelings and should not have lowered himself to the level of dog barking like that. They should have handed over/kept a condolence note on behalf of kerala and left the scene.
This is the respect Minister has got for the PUBLIC. All Indian Ministers think they own country and the people and they can use their power to do what they want...
Congratulations to Kerala CPM leader Achutanandan for exposing his evil mind.
CM you don`t worry we all behind you and love you if you are ready to move to Trivandrum ZOO.We are proud of MajSandeepJai Hind.
I was deeply saddened to hear about the death of Bharat Putra, Braved Major, Sandeep Unnikrishnan. I know how difficult this must be for you. You are in my thoughts and prayers. May God bless you and your family during this time and always,
