New Delhi, January 23: Congress MP Rahul Gandhi sought to disapprove of BJP leader L K Advani making a private conversation between them public, but maintained that he considers the saffron party only as a ‘political adversary’.

"I am not in the business of making private conversation public," Gandhi said.

His comment came in the backdrop of recent reports that Advani was touched by his gesture of walking up to him at the Delhi airport's VIP lounge, and that the BJP leader had told him that the two mainstream parties should treat each other as ‘political adversaries and not enemies’.

"I don't have a sense of disappointment," he said when asked how he felt about a private conversation being made public.

"I have a certain obligation. It is his (Advani) prerogative," he said.

He said he had a ‘chance meeting’ with Advani at the airport.

Asked whether he considered BJP as a political adversary, he said, "they are our political adversary and we have fundamental differences with them."

He was speaking at a luncheon hosted by AICC Media Department chairman M Veerappa Moily.

If dogs had wings they wpuld fly. by DILIP /FRANCE on 23 Jan 2008

Oh boy! to understand the tenets and the values of Democracy you need intelligence and rational, which is in short supply amongst the muslim community, as apparent from the snake dance that they do to the tune of communal vote bank policies. That is why mad mullhas exhort to their faithfulls, whom to vote for.If educated savvy muslims voted with their reasons,we would not be in a such a quagmire, that India is. I doubt if the status quo would change.

cunningly malevolent---- by romesh.sharma on 23 Jan 2008

Its Congress chamchas like Moily who give undue advantages to a person who knows nothing about Indian politics and is stillfar behind to understand the cultural implications.Sure he is born Indian but no way better than his mother is exploiting the name Gandhi like Rajiv and Indra. How foolishly this report is exaggerated by saying "Advani was Touched by his gesture of walking up to him".People like Rahul aren't considered of some extra/special importance when they walk or even fly up to meet great politician and leader like Advani.Naturally, why and how he can have a sense of disappointment because what all he has and what he is, is all free of cost and effort. In hidden thought behind this report is to boost and propagate this guy by connecting his name with Advani. He is not of this worth and malicious hopes of Congress-parasites of the nation will remain tantalizing.

BJP and Congress - two sides of one coin by raj shanti on 23 Jan 2008

BJP and Congress is the two sides of the same coin. One talks about uplifting muslims and the other do the bashing. They are not political adversaries but political friends. Both the parties are RSS affiliates and hv overt and covert relationship with the sangh parivar. One open the door of Babri Masjid and the other demolished it. It is time that Indian Muslims should make a political party in line with Shiv sena and fight for their rights in India instead of supporting these double face political parties.

They only talk about dividing the society(Reservation) by rajveer Yadav on 23 Jan 2008

I wish these people are routed in the next loksabha. Inia is totally screwed, Poor people don't have money to make their ends meet and all these people are doing nothing but show their photogenic faces to media. They got everything in Virasat but they are screwing our country big time. All they care for is votes, that is why all they have talked in last 3 years is muslim reservations, money for muslims, gujarat riots etc.

Does he has any clue what he talks ? by Neha Agrawal on 23 Jan 2008

I have no clue why our media reports even if this clueless guy farts. He's a national shame. His family had been getting things ready on plate to eat and these people are so incompetent they don't know how to even do that. What a pathetic family... They are wasting country's time, I wish India had given another chance to ABV. That government was bringing change at a lightining speed

ABV? Not again by Maple on 23 Jan 2008

Another chance to ABV? At the lightning speed at which his cronies were taking the country down the drain? Salute democracy for allowing India to show them the door.

RAHUL GANDHI, WHO? by HEMU on 23 Jan 2008

Who is Rahul Gandhi ? Never heard his name !

Story created out of nothing ! by Sharad C. Misra on 23 Jan 2008

The report has hardly any news value ! Rahul has agreed with Advani that the Congress party and BJP were "political adversaries" and not enemies. As for em barrassment cased to Rahul by his chance meeting with Advani and the two exchanging a few pleasantries, we see nothing worth reporting on it. Rahul approaching Advani only shows that the young Gandhi respected the Leader of Opposition. The way the news-starved media spins stories out of nothing shows it in very poor light.
