New Delhi, November 30: In a move entailing payout of Rs 40-50 crore, Sahara India said it would pay five times the gross salaries of each martyr to their families for the next ten years, while paying tribute to the security personnel who sacrificed their lives in the Mumbai terror attacks.

Subrata Roy-led Sahara India Pariwar said in a statement that as an expression of its emotional empathy and solidarity, it has decided to pay per month an amount equivalent to five times the gross salaries of the security personnel who sacrificed their lives, for the next 10 years, to their respective families.

If their children do not turn 21 after 10 years, the payment shall continue until they reach that age, it added.

"We, at Sahara India Pariwar, salute the brave Army, NSG and police personnel who, in a display of unmatched valour, grit and courage, managed to subdue the nefarious deeds of these evil forces," the statement said.

This is just a token tribute from Sahara India Pariwar to these brave men whose deeds shall be enshrined in letters of gold in the annals of Indian history, it added.

Sahara's meaningful gesture to security force martyrs by Raj on 01 Dec 2008

Such a well-meaning act by Sahara should be awarded a special presidential commendation and other companies ought to cover the rest of the slain innocents. It is truly a patriotic gesture. Thank you Sahara!

What a positive thing by Appu on 01 Dec 2008

Wow... very good. This is going to set a precedence and people themselves will show how much they care. Great thing indeed. Is Sahara going to award someone who kills Dawood? Any one for politicians?

@AnIndianyeah i bow to sahara's gesture. My worry is where were such sahara's all these days? i think this is just an act of sahara to bring them to limelight. lets see what the others do.

Great deed by Santhana Krishnan C on 01 Dec 2008

this is a great deed. Hats off to Sahara (the decision makers)one clarification please - what about the army men in our borders? whats sahara or any other org doing to these men? what about the abducted people in Pak jail? they too are equally brave and face same kind of terror.are we doing anything to bring those families up?- sorry if i am rude or heartless in this front. just because elite people were inside these hotels this attack and counter attack is talked and backed so much. army men in the borders or in any part of the country - eg: flooded parts all over the nation, these army men and NSG are brought in to rescue people. This is the reason for my question. Are we doing any thing(of this metric - 'five times the gross sal for 10yrs' ) to every human shedding his life in any other part of this country?

honoring our Braves by Shiv on 01 Dec 2008

Its a high time we give these braves a due recognition by taking care of their family and my salute to Sahara Pariwar for taking the first step. I want Govt of India to the same or better for these braves and innocent victims of this horrific tragedy.
