Hyderabad, July 20 ACE shuttler Saina Nehwal and archer Mangal Singh today expressed confidence of putting up an impressive performance at the Beijing Games.

“I am playing quite well. I have been training extensively for the past three weeks and I am confident that I will play well,” said Saina.

Her coach and mentor Pullela Gopichand, the former All England Champion, hoped Saina, currently ranked 16, would do well in the Olympics. Gopichand, who will also be going to Beijing, said the competition will come from the top 10-12 players, and that they will be taking it one match at a time.

Sounding pretty confident about his chances, Mangal Singh, the archer from Jharkhand now playing for Andhra Pradesh, said he is looking forward to the sporting extravaganza. “I think I have a good chance. I stood first in the World Cup in Turkey. I participated in different tournaments and secured the top three positions,” the 24-year-old player said. Singh is the lone male archer to represent India at the Olympics.
