The soundtrack of the keenly anticipated film, Vipul Amrutlal Shah’s Singh Is Kinng, was released on June 26 at a suburban 5-star pub. The music is marketed by Junglee Music, as their second film score after Welcome. The music is scored by Pritam and the lyrics are by Mayur Puri.
An Indian Films-Studio 18 release, the film is written and directed by Anees Bazmee and stars Akshay Kumar (who is out of the country), Katrina Kaif, Sonu Sood, Neha Dhupia, Om Puri and Sudhanshu Pandey, all of whom were present at the function.
Incidentally, the soundtrack also features the legendary rapper, Snoop Dogg and there is news that the top British-Asian band, RDB, also feature on the film’s title track. Two renowned international DJs have been roped in for remix versions of three tracks on the album - Jay Dabhi, North America’s top South-Asian DJ, the Glasgow-based brothers, Raj and Pops, who call themselves Tiger Style and are amongst the biggest DJs of bhangra, Reggaeton, dance hall and Punjabi music. Neeraj Shridhar, Labh Janjua, Style Bhau, Daler Mehndi, Mika, Ashish Pandit and Hard Kaur are among the singers.

The music of the film was formally launched jointly by leading lady Katrina Kaif and Salman Khan, who is a part of Shah’s next film London Dreams. Amitabh Bachchan and Abbas-Mustan were honoured guests.
The highlight of the evening was a sparkling performance of a track from the film by Mika (with a Singh Is Kinng look) and Hard Kaur and a scintillating turn by Pakistani band Azal of the rock version of the title-track.
Akshay Kumar will soon shoot the title track of Singh Is Kinng with Snoop Dogg (who pioneered the ascendance of West Coast ‘g-funk’ rap). Snoop’s entire team has taken on the task of conceptualising and planning the entire shoot at a whopping cost of 7 crores. “They’re working very hard on the video, which will be shot in Los Angeles soon,” said producer Vipul Amrutlal Shah.
“I’d always heard of Snoop but never met him. I still haven’t, in fact. Our negotiations happened on the ‘phone and through e-mail. His association with the film will draw a lot of non-Asian media and audience attention internationally,” added Vipul. “Snoop has seen many Akshay songs and is excited. It’s going to be something new for him as well. He plans to incorporate a lot of Bollywood elements in the video.”
While the video of the title track is likely to release on television closer to the release of Singh Is Kinng, the song features on the soundtrack
