You are both an actor and a director. What would you like to be known as, and, which one of the two is more satisfying?
I would like to be known both as an actor and a director. Because I love to be both an actor and a director.
What is your view about offbeat films, particularly in context of Nishabd?
I liked Nishabd very much. Personally speaking, I don’t consider films as offbeat or otherwise, what you call as mainstream ones.
Will you call Nishabd a ‘daring’ movie?
It was an unconventional film.
You have directed a movie with Salman Khan as an actor. How was the experience of directing Salman?
It was very good. Salman is a very good human being. He is a very co-operative actor.
Do you think that women make better directors than men?
I don’t believe in that. In my opinion, it does not make any difference, if the director is a man or a woman.
Kamala Das is a prominent literary figure of Kerala. Do you have any plans of making a movie on her?
I have not thought about it, yet.
How was your experience of Mitr, My Friend? Why did the movie have only women as the crew?
Mitr just happened to be a film by an all-women crew. Though it was an attempt to encourage women technicians, we never planned to have an all women crew. Once we got everybody we realised that we have all the women.
How was it working with Amitabh Bachchan, an actor who enjoys iconic status in Bollywood?
I did not get this feeling that I am working with an actor with an iconic status. I enjoyed working with him. One thing, I learned from him is that, even after working for so many years, his intensity of work is great. He still puts in that effort (required by a particular role).

hi salman bhai you r better dan srk
HI SALU HOW ARE YOU
Why do you have to refer to Revathy as 'South Indian Actress'? Do you guys ever refer to Kareena Kapoor or Juhi Chawla as North Indian actresses? You conveniently call them INDIAN actresses! This bias has been going on for a long time in the so-called "mainstream" media! When Hindi film personalities and journalists proudly proclaim that Bollywood is the largest film industry in the world (actually implying Hindi films), what they fail to mention is that Telugu and Tamil films alone make more number of films than Hindi. Time to wake up and come out of this bias.
well said pal.one must totally agree with u and accept that there is a bias against the so called south indians.does being from south or east make one less indian than the one from north?grow up n get over urselves.no offence to any one... there is no singer in bollywood who is as versatile as SPB but still he is called as the south indian singer .. people call P.susheela as the south indian lata mangeshkar but y not call lata mangeshkar as the north indian p susheela.kamal hasan has given superhits in 6 different languages which no actor can boast of n the best part of it is he learnt the langauge n dubbed for himself n all the south indian singers hindi diction is far better than the north indian singers south diction.yet they are treated badly, i mean u guys copy a movie from the south n a make it a worst remake, release it gloabally n declare it as the hit on the very second day. dont even have the courtesy to give the credits to the original n claim it as the original.the fact of the matter is hindi film doesnt have the originality or nativity, even the poorest family is shown staying in a huge bungalow, designer clothes n expensive outdoors... OMG !
